An exciting opportunity exists as a Technical Officer in the Technical Support Group (TSG) within the School of Engineering and Technology (SET), UNSW Canberra. The Technical Officer provides manufacturing support to the school across all aspects of digital and manual machining, design and fabrication. The Technical Officer will be responsible for designing, developing, and fabricating mechanical components and devices to meet the needs of the school, contributing to the school's pursuit of excellence in teaching and research across all disciplines of engineering, including Civil, Aeronautical/aerospace, Mechanical and electrical.Responsibilities:
The role sits within the school's mechanical workshop and is pivotal in providing a bespoke manufacturing service through the candidate's skills and experience in mechanical design and digital manufacturing. Moreover, the role is crucial in assisting, mentoring, and guiding students, staff, and clients to the workshop on the best mechanical manufacturing and design methodologies and solutions to solve the problem before them.Who You Are:
- Extensive experience in Mechanical Manufacturing as a Fitter and Machinist
- Developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- A customer focussed mindset.
- An ability to effectively communicate with a wide audience with various cultural and technical backgrounds.
