Axens global offer is based on highly trained human resources, modern production facilities and an extended global network for industrial, technical supports & commercial services.Axens combines the friendliness of a company on a human scale and the influence of a multinational environment whose customers are spread over more than 85 countries.Axens is an IFP Group company.Context:The Business Division Project Operations is specialized in the Process licensing, in the design and supply of process furnaces and modular units for our customers' refineries and petrochemical sites.Within this Business division is carried out the execution of the products, from design to start-up at customers.The Engineering department is responsible for engineering studies on these projects as well as technical support for the development of new equipment sold by the company.Missions :The process safety and environment specialist is involved in all phases of process technologies licensing in in the fields of industrial safety related to processes licensed by Axens.As a technical referent for process safety and environment within Axens, your mission is to support various departments including subsidiaries.Working in cross-functional engineering activities, the process safety and environment specialist is the referent of process safety environment related to processes licensed by Axens and reports hierarchically to the Engineering Management and specialities responsible.Your main missions will be as follows:
  • Support Process engineers and customers by verifying that the principles of intrinsic safety, the principles of preventive measures and Ensure mitigation and preliminary risk analysis are taken into account within the white Process Books (processes in development).
  • Participating in HAZID / HAZOP / LOPA reviews with client on request.
  • Occasionally Support Engineers from Technical Assistance & Start-up and other Departments.
  • Validate safety aspects for process documents such as Process Study Guidelines.
  • Ensure that the requirements of new regulations and standards on safety and environmental protectionare taken into account in our design.
  • Systematically take into account feedback on safety and environmental protection.
· Update and proposeevolution of the specifications and the Study Guide Equipment "Devices for protection against excess pressure" from Axens
  • Assist the HSE design specialist in modular projects and proprietary equipment.
  • Maintain the "Process Safety" library and subject classification for industrial safety information.
  • Propose adaptation of process plans in order to respond to changes in environmental and safety protection regulations.
  • Taking into account of return of experience on Process safety, Environment , especially coming from start up and technical Assistance departments.
  • Contribute to the development and update of the technical referential book related to Process safety, Environment (Internal instruction, standards.)
  • Animate training courses for Process Engineers regarding Process safety and Environment.
Knowledge and Required Level:
  • We are looking for a graduated chemical engineer with excellent knowledge of processes, process control, and safety.
  • Knowledge and experience in safety design in engineering would be an advantage.
  • You should be able to interpret technical, hazard, and operational data and apply the appropriate risk assessment methods and expertise.
  • You should have at least 15 years of experience in process safety activities, preferably in the downstream oil and gas engineering sector.
  • Experience in installation and commissioning activities would be an advantage.
  • You should have a sense of curiosity to maintain your skills in developing Axens' business.
  • You should have excellent knowledge in safety reviews such as HAZID, HAZOP LOPA, etc.
  • You should be fluent in technical English (written, spoken), and French is appreciated.
  • You should have a strong sense of support combined with communication ease and a spirit of analysis. You should have networking skills.
  • You should be a force of proposal and know how to decide and defend your choices with your interlocutors. This position requires short-term international travels.
