We are seeking an experienced General Ledger Accountant to join our finance team with expertise in journal entries. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the preparation and posting of journal entries, performing complex reconciliations, and providing guidance to junior staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and proven experience in general ledger accounting.
Responsibilities:
Lead the preparation and posting of journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Perform complex account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Coordinate month-end and year-end close processes, including review of journal entries and financial statements.
Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff, including training and mentoring.
Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
Collaborate with internal and external auditors on audit-related matters.
Participate in financial reporting and analysis activities as needed.Required Technical and Professional ExpertiseB+ to C1 proficiency in English and native fluency in Spanish, both written and spoken.
Advanced Accounting Knowledge: In-depth understanding of complex accounting principles and standards, with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
Journal Entry Expertise: Proficiency in preparing and reviewing journal entries for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards.
Analytical Skills: Capability to analyze financial transactions and identify trends, anomalies, and areas for process improvement.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Aptitude for troubleshooting discrepancies in journal entries and implementing corrective actions.
ERP Proficiency: Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms, for managing journal entries and financial transactions.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in journal entries and financial reporting.
Team Collaboration: Ability to collaborate with other departments, auditors, and stakeholders to address journal entry-related issues and inquiries.Preferred Technical and Professional ExpertiseBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, GAAP or IFRS standards, and financial reporting requirements.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, such as SAP or Oracle.
Experience in month-end and year-end closing processes.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
