Exciting new career opportunity to head up and develop a new product development team for a market leader in vehicle safety. As a Product Development Manager your role will be to build, lead and manage a product development team involved in the R&D and delivery of both pioneering new products as well as upgrades to the company's current product portfolio. This challenging new role requires a degree qualified engineering team leader with a background in electronics development, ideally with automotive systems. Your key responsibilities as Product Development Manager will include: -- Manage & lead team members including line management, day to day work, recruitment, training and development -- Lead engineering project prioritisation & assignment -- Manage engineering resource loading and forecasting -- Management of product overall cost and timing informed by commercial awareness -- Manage & lead research, development and verification of innovative technologies and products up to market launch -- Manage, lead & negotiate supplier and engineering services including acquisition and strategies -- Manage engineering process improvement Support product roadmap development and strategies for technical products including: -- Detection & warning systems inclusive the sensor technologies -- Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) -- Camera monitor systems and image processing -- Mobile digital video & data recorders, IP video technology -- Vehicle reversing & warning alarms Your Profile: Essential: -- Bachelor of Engineering and practical experience with electronics -- Experienced in leading a team and managing commercial projects -- Commercial awareness project and product cost and timing -- Extensive knowledge of analogue and digital electronics including microprocessors, DSP, video signal processing and RF technology -- Knowledge of camera, optics, acoustics, LCDs and digital recording technologies -- Knowledgeable of modern automotive electronic architecture, multiplex communication protocols and systems -- Experienced supplier management preferably with Far Eastern low-cost manufacturing -- Genuine interest in modern technology preferably with in the automotive industry Preferred: -- Master of Engineering (in the domain of software and electronics engineering) -- People and project management training or qualification -- Experience in the automotive industry and working with OEM requirements -- Experience with Automotive methods and standards With product development for detection of traffic situation, persons, cyclists and objects and sensors within the automotive domain Package: -- Attractive basic salary -- 10% Bonus -- Pension -- Hybrid working (3 days pw on site, 2 from home) -- Private health care -- Life Assurance -- Employee benefits assistance -- 25 days holidays + 8 stat days (increasing by 1 day every 2 years) Tiro is a specialist Employment Agency and Employment Business assisting with both contract and permanent opportunities in automotive, aerospace, electronics & FMCG engineering & manufacturing.
