This role will be responsible for assisting with legal risk mitigation, litigation, and dispute resolution; drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts; and advising on compliance and regulatory matters. You will also work closely with other departments, such as finance, human resources, and marketing, to ensure that our policies and procedures are aligned with the law and best practices.Job Description:As the Associate Corporate Counsel, you will have the opportunity to:Provide support to the legal team on any legal matters, including developing and implementing legal risk mitigation strategies, litigation, regulatory compliance, and IP enforcement.Track, research, and prepare memos on a variety of legal topics, including global laws and regulations impacting the organization.Assist counsel with investigations, data preservation, litigation discovery work, and litigation hold process.Develop training materials and deliver training for the organization and stakeholder groups on a variety of legal topics.Be a subject matter expert of the case management system for the legal team and assist with matter management.Conduct research, draft, and advise on a wide variety of commercial and collaborative agreements.Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external including finance, procurement, project management and all business/commercial functions.The skills and experience for this role are:Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school required.Membership in a State Bar and eligibility for a VA bar license or eligible for registration as corporate counsel. Virginia State Bar License preferred.3 plus years’ experience as a practicing attorney, or equivalent in education.Pragmatic, commercially minded and keen to work in an exciting and ever-changing environment on a variety of contracts and legal matters.Demonstrated experience with a case management system preferred.Fluency in English required; multilingual would be useful.Highly organized and efficient to enable management of large and varied workload.Ability to plan and deliver on targets and deadlines.Effective and clear communicator demonstrating excellent communication skills including written, verbal, and listening. Strong legal writing skills.Proficient using standard office software such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and other Office 365 applications.Willingness to ask questions rather than just follow directions is required.This opportunity is open to internal and external candidates.
