As a Payroll Team Leader, you'll support the Payroll Manager, manage team development, identify client needs, and report improvements. This is a hybrid role with HQ in Fareham.Payroll Team Leader:
  • Providing comprehensive support to the Payroll Manager, overseeing a payroll team and delegating tasks efficiently.
  • Ensuring optimal performance of team members through conducting appraisals, delivering training sessions, and facilitating the onboarding process for new hires.
  • Fostering transparent communication within the team to enhance collaboration and productivity.
  • Managing the day-to-day workflow and client portfolios, resolving any payroll-related issues promptly.
  • Supervising complex scenarios within the team and reviewing payroll payments and reconciliations.
  • Assisting with intricate payroll calculations and onboarding new acquisitions seamlessly.
  • Contributing to the production of Management Reporting and supporting senior colleagues in projects and business development endeavors.
  • Collaborating closely with the payroll manager to maintain high standards of client service.
  • Reviewing multiple payrolls and providing constructive feedback to Administrators.
  • Ensuring timely completion of deadlines for BACS and third-party report uploads/payments.
  • Preparing reports and financial statements as necessary and stepping up in the absence of the manager.

  • Thorough understanding and expertise in payroll legislation, processing, and auto-enrollment regulations.
  • Highly desirable experience with STAR software and Bureau operations.
  • Proven track record in payroll team management, client portfolio oversight, conducting performance appraisals, and delivering training.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in manual payroll calculations is essential.
  • Comprehensive end-to-end payroll experience.
  • Ideally holds a CIPP Foundation qualification.
  • Previous experience in mentorship and coaching to support team development.
