- Provide direct financial and accounting support to COS faculty and staff including distributing financial information, preparing projections and investigating and resolving issues ranging from straightforward to complex that often involve externally- and internally-funded accounts. Work closely with other departments, including Sponsored Programs Accounting, to ensure full resolution of issues and timely follow-up.
- Complete reconciliations and analysis of the College's financial accounts, including operating, capital, special, discretionary, start-up, internal grants, and overhead project accounts, to ensure transactions are accurate and in compliance with applicable university policies and other regulatory requirements. Resolve issues that range from straightforward to complex due to the size of the College, including the preparation of budget, journal, and funding entries. Regularly communicate financial information with department chairs, assistant/associate deans and Dean.
- Prepare complex compensation-related reconciliations and analyses, including: processing summer salary payments, reconciling sources of funds for academic year and summer salary and administrative stipends for faculty and all salary and wages for staff. Align data with the capacity model for faculty courses taught, during the academic year and summer, investigate discrepancies and elevate issues to the appropriate department head and/or Dean.
- Populate, review, and disseminate monthly departmental payroll reports to ensure faculty and staff are charged to the correct accounts with the appropriate level of effort, maintain accuracy of salary workbooks, and complete correcting journal and budget entries as needed. Reconcile permanently filled and open FTE budget and position details, elevate discrepancies to department chairs and/or Dean as appropriate. Maintain and update the capacity resource management and allocation model semi-annually. Work closely with department heads and provide analysis to the COS Sr. Financial Analyst to be presented to the COS Dean.
- Coordinate the University's annual merit process for the College using Compensation Work Bench (CWB), including populating and distributing information to departments and compiling, consolidating and reconciling data college-wide. Work directly with department heads, assistant/associate deans, and the Dean to resolve differences and review final results. Prepare report with annual salary components college-wide in CWB for Dean's final approval.
- Monitor and report on college cost share commitments for sponsored projects and COS secondary F&A distribution agreements.
- Distribute the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships monthly Grad reports to COS units. Prepare MS Grad Scholarship Analysis working closely with Sr. Associate Dean, MS program managers and admins to evaluate and monitor scholarship awards and predict future funding needs.
- Perform other accounting and financial analysis as requested by management.in support of the Colleges' strategic goals ensuring that year-end results meet budget expectations.
- Participate in a minimum of 40 hours of training/professional development annually (or a pro rata amount based on standard working hours). Training must be applicable to the employee's role current within the Controller's Division with the intent of enhancing overall knowledge as well as the specific skills, whether functional or technical, required to perform successfully in the position.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or related discipline OR equivalent combination of education and applicable experience.
- Five to six years progressive experience in accounting, financial analysis, and/or project accounting
- MBA and/or CPA
- Experience in a not-for-profit or higher education setting.
- Hands-on post award grant administration experience along with knowledge of Federal OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) and federal acquisitions regulations (FAR)
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products required; experience with an enterprise-wide financial applications software system
