  • Inserts Operator
DutiesTriage
  • Triaging countersinks, including measuring and re-countersinking as required, pre-delivery
  • Installation of metallic inserts to composite detail panels using a variety of resin systems
  • Edge sealing panels in preparation for painting, using a variety of resin system
  • Read and accurately follow work instructions, specifications and part drawings (accessed via PC)
  • Accurately complete work route cards to maintain component traceability
  • Contribute to reducing the scrap levels within the business
Paint
  • Application of Primer paint schemes to a variety of Metallic, composite components.
  • Application of resin and fillers to components in accordance with customer specifications and control
  • Manual abrading and use of orbital sander
  • Masking and stencilling of Aircraft Details In accordance with technical drawings and work instructions
  • Mixing of fillers, paints and resins in line with manufacturer instructions and COSHH requirements
  • Operating cure booths and monitoring the paint cure cycles
  • Testing of painted surfaces by means of Tape, Isoscope.
Debag
  • Mould Tool preparation for the composite lamination / lay-up process
  • De-Bag & Part Mark after the curing process
  • Preparing Numerically Controlled (NC) fixtures for trimming
  • Operating various machinery (Forklift, Hubtex, AGV & MGV) for the movement of fixtures
  • Batch preparing damming for use in the clean room
  • Mixing of filler and blue ice when requested for use within lamination / lay-up process
  • Movement of panels from post trim to the next process, ensuring all panels are made hand safe prior to movement
  • Operating the MES system and ensure panels are located correctly
  • Raising Deficiency Reports (DRs) as required
  • Recording panel countersink measurement for data collection
  • Mould Tool & Part movement around the composite facility
Inserts
  • Installation of metallic inserts to composite detail panels using a variety of resin systems
  • Triaging countersinks, including measuring and re-countersinking as required, pre-delivery
  • Edge sealing panels in preparation for painting, using a variety of resin system
  • Read and accurately follow work instructions, specifications and part drawings (accessed via PC)
  • Operate under own initiative and work with minimal supervision
  • Accurately complete work route cards to maintain component traceability
Requirements
  • Previous experience of composite detail manufacture, drilling, countersinks etc.
  • Experience working with composite carbon fibre and similar materials
  • Good level of dexterity
  • Competent in numeracy and literacy skills, and able to read and understand technical documentation
  • Good knowledge of health and safety
  • Good communication skills
  • Drive to succeed as an individual and as part of a team
  • Positive approach to problem solving
  • Willing to learn and adapt with a strong focus on flexibility
  • Self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Excellent time keeping
  • Previous experience of composite detail manufacture and/or working with composite carbon fibre and similar materials would be an advantage but not essential
