Job Description:A quick look at the roleAs the Finance Director, you will play a pivotal role in guiding our company's financial direction and ensuring the achievement of strategic and financial targets. You will be responsible for leading and participating in key projects and processes to drive continual performance improvement and growth. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining robust financial controls and procedures while supporting commercial decision-making to optimise Group performance.The Municipal division has approx £200m of revenue across 30 Local Authority Collection Contracts, employing 3,000 people..Your core responsibilities
  • Overseeing and directing a finance department comprising of 10 team members, including 4 direct reports
  • Being an effective and valued member of the finance and divisional leadership teams, providing support and challenge to the Senior leadership team in the development and delivery of strategic and financial targets.
  • Leading and participating in a culture of continual performance improvement, driving key projects and processes such as new systems, investments, and acquisitions.
  • Ensuring robust and fit-for-purpose procedures are in place for reporting, monitoring financial performance, and appraising projects, supported by a strong framework of financial controls.
  • Accountabilities will focus on Finance Leadership, New Business Strategy, Divisional M&A activity, and Financial Reporting, with planning horizons ranging from monthly reporting to 5-year plans.
  • Supporting the commercial decision-making process on pricing and new services to optimise Group performance.
  • Ensuring divisional management understands and supports Group policies and objectives, including risk, financing, tax, and key business controls.
  • Performing an ambassadorial role for the division within the finance community and ensure alignment with the overall Group objectives.
  • Supporting the Managing Director with client engagement activities and acting as a principle point of contact for a small portfolio of contracts
.Our essential requirements
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA or CIMA) with a minimum of 5 years PQE
  • Experience in financial planning, reporting, and analysis
  • Proven track record of managing finance functions in large corporate businesses
  • Experience in managing a remote team
  • Proficiency in financial accounting, tax, and M&A transactions
