Lawyer (Property & Contracts)Post No: 1265Salary: Starting from £49,816 to £53,125 per annum (pro rated for 22.5 hours per week from £30,293.51 to £32,305.74 per annum)Grade: Grade 9Hours: 22.5 hours per week (3 days)Place of work: Flexible working with a minimum of 2 days per week worked in the office at Worthing, Town HallClosing date: 27th May 2024Interviews: TBAA really exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Legal Services Section, providing a joint legal service to Adur District Council and Worthing Borough Council as a Lawyer in the Property and Contracts team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a knowledgeable, supportive and friendly team, based in the seaside town of Worthing, West Sussex.Reporting to the Senior Lawyer, you will have demonstrable experience in working within a busy legal environment or be qualified as a Lawyer, Barrister or Legal Executive (or working towards that qualification).You will have knowledge and experience in any of the following areas of law:-
  • Procurement Law
  • Contract Law
  • Knowledge of any of the following is helpful: Housing, Licensing, Information Law, Enforcement, Employment Law, Debt Collection, Criminal or Civil Litigation and Advocacy.
This will be an interesting, exciting, varied and rewarding role, dealing with a wide variety of contracts for the Council. You will be expected to manage a busy and varied workload and to work as part of a team. We are looking for positive, driven and innovative professional with excellent analytical and research skills. You will be a good team player, self-motivated and have the ability to give clear, accurate and practical legal advice.Knowledge and experience of local government law and practice is preferable but not essential. Depending upon experience and training, you will be willing to attend Committees on a regular basis.
