The incumbent will be involved in clinical cancer research, primarily utilizing computational and machine-learning methodologies to address contemporary challenges in precision oncology. The incumbent is accountable for conducting independent experiments within their Research Program in a collaborative framework with their supervisor. Act as an Investigator on project and grant applications.Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest advancements in computational biology, machine learning, and genomics.Paly a significant role in the development of research projects and collaborationsBe involved in the recruitment and supervision of research assistants and students.ABOUT YOUThe key skills and experience of a Research Officer include:PhD or MD in a relevant area2 years relevant experienceExtensive experience with computational biology techniques is expectedDemonstrated evidence of research leadership and publication of primary research in leading journalsDemonstrated prudential management of grant funds receivedActed as an Associated Investigator on project and grant applicationsHave been involved in the recruitment of research assistants and studentsStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsHave a strong commitment to the continuous delivery of high-quality workHave excellent communication skills for written reports and oral presentationsDemonstrate a capacity to work collaboratively with researchers across laboratoriesBe well organised and a good time manager with sound administrative abilitiesABOUT GARVANThe Garvan Institute of Medical Research is an independent Medical Research Institute (MRI) in Sydney, delivering scientific and clinical impact on a global basis and in partnership with organisations that share our vision.
