April 2024About the roleThe teacher role involves teaching groups of children with additional needs with a focus on Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).You will hold substantial knowledge of working with young people with SEND and will be able to inspire and nurture pupils to their highest level of learning. You will also be responsible for organising the supporting staff in the classroom.Your daily routine will involve continuously adapting and working alongside pupils to make their time in school as beneficial and productive as possible. Your main objective will be to support these pupils with this, as well as making sure they are not displaying any triggers or any signs of unease. Adaptability, patience and an resilient attitude will be key to success in this role.Their main aim is to offer the best possible quality of learning to pupils with a tailored curriculum to the individual students across their classes.The role will initially be a temporary role via agency, leading to a permanent contract directly with the school following a qualifying period.The role is also suitable for ECTs.About the schoolThey support diverse group of pupils with a range of complex learning needs in an OFSTED Outstanding provision. We are continually seeking quality caring staff members, who with additional experience and training may eventually become full time or even supply staff members.The school is the main setting in North Lancashire who work with students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) with a large catchment of students around south Cumbria and north Lancashire.RequirementsTo be considered for the role of SEN Teacher you will:
  • Have previous experience of working with children or young people; ideally within a school, nursery, childcare, youth work, play or care setting within the last 2 years.
  • We must be able to obtain valid references from these roles.
  • Hold, or be prepared to undergo an Enhanced DBS, registered to the Update Service.
  • Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
  • Main Teacher Pay Scale (MPS/UPS)
  • Relevant experience in the past few years working with children, young people or vulnerable adults
