- Develop and manage a portfolio of diverse customer accounts with a focus on promoting growth, achieving margin objectives and key performance indicators. This involves interviewing customers at length to learn about their shipping function, their needs, strengths and their weaknesses to ensure they can manage to customer expectations.
- Lead the negotiation of pricing and other commercial terms between carriers and customers with limited supervision.
- Make decisions to ensure that customer service is protected.
- Actively pursue new business by contacting new and existing clients through multiple mediums (i.e. cold calling, social media, email, networking, and referrals) that may include interacting with various levels of management.
- Create effective sales strategies for customers inclusive of profitability analyses, equipment and mode considerations and market capacity intel.
- Provide a high level of customer service by interacting with various levels of client and internal leadership, acting as the primary point of contact throughout the life cycle of the business engagement (i.e. Sales negotiation to delivery), ensuring effective problem resolution.
- Prepare custom reports and analysis outlining client/carrier performance, to include customer reports to each customer on their shipping operations, tied to customer specific goals
- Meet and present to current and potential clients, in include senior level (C-suite) executives on Kenco’s capabilities.
- Delivers clear, honest, and proactive communication to customers and carriers
- Constantly evaluates processes and sale approach for areas of improvement and efficiency to streamline the sales process, enhance relationships and grow business margins.
- 1-2 years of experience in sales or account management is preferred, but not required
- Effective problem solver and decision maker with a strong capability to assess workload and prioritize tasks.
- Self-motivated with an eye for detail and ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment.
- High-touch customer service mindset and ability to provide clear, honest and proactive communication.
- Proficient in transportation/brokerage software, preferably Mercury Gate.
