This could be the next adventure in your career.Create Solutions that will enable a better tomorrowTo further strengthen our Rail team in York, we are looking for a Senior Civil/ Structural engineer to join us. Working on a variety of projects across the UK, you'll coordinate from feasibility to detailed design across our Rail portfolio with the opportunity to be involved in projects across other sectors.Your key responsibilities will be:
  • Acting as deputy CRE (Design) to manage discipline delivery through the Network Rail assurance process, including application of the Network Rail acceptance, review, derogation and non-compliance processes
  • Pricing packages of work and subsequently managing and coordinating delivery to time and budget, ensuring a high standard of technical quality and compliance with our internal management systems across the entire project lifecycle from feasibility to detailed design, including site supervision where required.
  • Supervising a team of engineers and technicians, mentoring, and developing those less experienced within your project teams, working with line managers to maximise training and development opportunities.
  • Production of structural designs, assessments or checking work, including preparation or checking of calculations, written reports, specifications and other contract deliverables
  • Ensuring that design, assessments and checking of designs are in accordance with the current Standards, Codes of Practice and Best Practice Preparing for, undertaking, and writing up site inspections and supervision of works on site, including works on the railway network
  • Developing and maintaining Client relationships through your project work, including identifying and realising any potential business opportunities

  • Achieved, or be very close to achieving, chartered civil or structural engineer status (MICE, MIStructE or equivalent)
  • Experience in a design environment working on rail, tunnels, heavy civil, bridges or other complex structures in the UK
  • The ability to demonstrate a deep understanding and enthusiasm for civil/structural/rail engineering and a personal commitment to technical excellence
  • Preferably experience of the design, inspection, assessment or repair of Network Rail assets
  • The inter-personal skills and aptitude to work collaboratively in a diverse multi-disciplinary team, and with Clients and Contractors.
  • Previous experience as a deputy CRE (preferable), or will have undertaken delegated roles under the Engineering Management for Project standard (NR/L2/RSE/02009)
  • Experience of working on the UK rail network, preferable holding PTS.
  • A full UK Driving Licence
