Role PurposeThe team is responsible for the Back Office Operations and trade settlement/confirmation related support activities within Balance sheet Management. To support the front office trading activity for trades, cash flows and instruments booked and managed on the Murex trading platform by the portfolio managers of the Liability Driven Investments trading desk, which specializes in fixed income and derivative trading.
Requirements
  • Bachelors degree or Diploma in Banking or Finance would be beneficial
  • 7+ years of back-office experience preferably in the banking and financial services Industry, with specific focus on complex OTC derivatives, structured products and bonds - settlement and confirmation processes
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of financial instruments specially interest rate derivatives, structured notes, equity, derivatives, credit derivatives, option derivatives, exchange traded futures, FX, Money Market instruments etc.
  • Good working understanding and knowledge of the Murex Trading platform advantageous or other Fixed Income trading platforms
  • Excellent track record of cash and script reconciliations and the relevant reconciliation software (accurate, Duco or similar platforms)
Duties & ResponsibilitiesGeneral:
  • Daily confirmation of all new and existing Front Office trades, cashflow transactions facing external clients in an accurate and timely manner with external clients.
  • Loading confirmations onto Docusign and ensuring necessary signatures are obtained.
  • Daily confirmation of all new and existing trades, cashflow transactions facing internal clients in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Daily confirmation of Treasury forex trades and resolve all exceptions prior to settlement.
  • Daily validation of all settlements and investigate and resolve all exceptions with the Front Office, Middle Office and/or external clients on a timely basis prior to settlement.
  • To perform control function over daily settlements, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all payments prior to release for automated settlement.
  • Perform daily cash reconciliations and investigate and resolve all cash breaks.
  • To verify that all payments and receipts have been accounted for on the bank and nostro accounts.
  • Perform daily script and position reconciliations and investigate and resolve all breaks.
  • Ensure effective risk management of operational functions to avoid financial losses.
  • Maintain effective management of transactional costs.
  • Posting of cash transactions to the general Ledger.
Ad-hoc:
  • Assisting with the annual Statutory Audits in the form of trade confirmations and existence testing requests and any other audit related queries.
  • To effectively work with internal and external stakeholders in resolving issues and exceptions in confirmation, settlement or reconciliation of trades and positions.
  • Ensure service excellence by providing guidance and support to internal clients (business units).
  • Completion of Forex BOP forms and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Providing continuous input towards detecting defects and streamlining the system and control
