We believe that fermentation is one of the most promising answers to this challenge.Lesaffre – Working together to better nourish and protect the planet.Job DescriptionAlong the years we built a solid reputation with breakthrough research and intellectual property to develop microorganism-based solutions for nutrition and health. You will integrate the Nutrition Microbiota and Heath Center of Excellence to strengthen our Biotic research program with a primary focus microbiome-based solutions for nutrition and health applications.You will:
  • Design and lead discovery activities in microbiome research at Lesaffre in close collaboration with Microbiome R&D program coordinator and Innovation Leaders from Lesaffre Business units.
  • Analyze multi-omic data from samples ranging from preclinical to clinical studies to generate high-quality reports on-time.
  • Implement key methods and procedures with precise database and electronic laboratory notebook maintenance.
  • Interface with the data scientists of the institute to leverage and develop Lesaffre data analysis capabilities, machine learning tools and informatic systems.
  • Lead ideation and experimental execution to identify microorganisms or related-bioactives for human, animal or plant care applications.
  • Identify white space and patent opportunities.
  • Attend and present results in key congresses.
Qualifications
  • Experienced scientist with PhD and > 3-5 years prior experience in a microbiome research laboratory (microbial ecology, soil science, plant pathology or animal or human digestive sciences preferred). You have track-record knowledge of molecular biology techniques, sequencing devices and bioinformatic analysis tools. Solid computational skills and a deep understanding of NGS data and its analysis are required. Coding skills is an asset and previous experience on environment, soil or human skin microbiome is a plus.
  • Critical and analytical thinking are required for translational research around host and microbe interactions, holobionts and applications around the one-health concept.
  • High collaborative attitude to develop intra and inter-departmental activities or work in cross-functional team to promote microbiome-based solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill (English + French).
