Offer DescriptionThe issue of film and series adaptations of digital games is a dynamic phenomenon that is taking on a new dimension in the contemporary media and entertainment industry, both in terms of quality and quantity. The thesis is based on an analysis of current trends and new approaches of cross-media transfer of interactive digital game content into the form of film and television works, taking into account the history of the development of related processes and the overall impact of such artefacts on the media sphere and popular culture. The theoretical framework identifies key factors that influence the adaptation process, including aesthetic, technological, economic and marketing aspects. It addresses the question of how to preserve the authenticity of the original game experience, or how to ensure it in the context of non-interactive adaptation. It also includes a comparison of examples of successful and unsuccessful adaptations and a reflection on the impact of community feedback and fan expectations on the final product. The theoretical-empirical dissertation applies content analysis to selected game adaptations, comparative analysis of a selection of critic and user reviews, and conducts questionnaire research on a sample of digital game players and non-players. The contribution of the thesis should be a better understanding of the processes of cross-media transfer of digital games into the form of film and series works in order to continuously improve the quality of such adaptations and their overall potential for the media-entertainment sector. The main objective of the thesis is to determine new trends, approaches and possibilities of the processes of adaptation of digital games into film and series formats and to identify the most effective strategies that contribute to the authenticity, quality and success (commercial, fan) of the resulting audiovisual artifacts. A partial objective is to assess the transformation of the approach to the adaptation of interactive game content into audiovisual form in the context of contemporary popular culture and media, taking into account aesthetic, technological, economic and marketing aspects. Another partial aim is to reflect on the feedback on this issue from the target groups involved.RequirementsResearch Field Communication sciences » Media studies Education Level Master Degree or equivalentSkills/QualificationsThe applicant should have a solid academic foundation in the relevant field of study, typically demonstrated by a master's degree or equivalent.
