As a Senior Technical Program Manager at Uber, you will work closely with cross-functional Uber engineering teams that will benefit from your technical leadership and ability to foster collaborative execution environments in order to build innovative solutions that deliver effective results and magical experiences for our business stakeholders. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.What You Will DoYou will become an integral part of the global Engineering Operations team, dedicated to instituting process improvements across various product and platform teams that produce significant, visible business impacts. The primary charter for this team is to establish the rhythm of business (RoB) across all Uber engineering organizations and drive transformative, engineering-wide initiatives that enhance operational efficiencies. TPM work involves the following:
  • Lead and manage complex, large-scale engineering programs focusing on enhancing efficiency and productivity across Uber's engineering landscape.
  • Partner with product and engineering to design and develop plans to implement strategic goals, prioritize investments and features, and drive implementation
  • Develop, track, coordinate end-to-end project schedules (e.g., epics, sprint plans, milestones, timelines and releases) across multiple strategic investments, monitor delivery and release processes, ensuring stakeholder accountability.
  • Identify communication gaps, manage issue escalations and provide support to teams balancing competing priorities. Drive results proactively.
  • Ensure alignment on tradeoffs, adjustments, and improvements as feasible.
  • Champion continuous process optimizations that align with the organization's strategic goals, ensuring sustainable success and competitive advantage.
  • Proactively identify and address blockers, escalate issues, and mitigate project risks.
  • Makes adjustments or course corrections when projects are not aligned to schedules or goals.
  • Mentor project management skills within our engineering leadership team.
Basic Qualifications
  • +6 years experience as a TPM or Engineering Manager in a Software or SaaS development environment
  • 3+ years of leadership experience leading large scale process transformations at an enterprise scale.
  • Proven track record in developing operational and executive dashboards leveraging Tableau, Grafana, Jira, Google Data Studio or other data visualization tools.
  • Deep technical domain knowledge of JIRA or equivalent workflow management platforms
  • Experience determining effective program KPIs and using them to measure program success and issues.
  • Solid technical aptitude and an ability to understand technical designs, challenges, and risks. Engineers enjoy working closely with you.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent in identifying process gaps, measuring progress, and balancing engineering and product efficiency with process overhead.
  • Excellent written and presentation skills are required, including the ability to lead meetings, workshops, and reviews for both small groups and large audiences, including company leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Data Science and Analytics
  • Experience in Strategic OKR planning, and financial budget planning and forecasting
  • Experience in leading monthly/quarterly/semi-annual business, operations or portfolio reviews
