We are looking for an experienced Chief Technology Officer to lead and manage the technical function (Development, Infrastructure and Test Teams and associated resources) for our client who are innovating in software SaaS to support clinical trials, including AI and data visualisations.The role requires a hands on leadership approach with the development and testing teams, as well as software strategy and working with the Board and clients. Our client is a SME with great investment and a great product so this is a good time to join. They are around 70 people with plans to grow the team and develop their products.Role scope:
  • To oversee and manage security and software delivery and performance
  • To oversee and manage 3rd party technology, 3rd party technology licences and technology vendors
  • To propose Budgets for Technology & Test Teams and Technology Spend Projects
  • To lead team growth, recruitment and high performance
  • Work with Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to define the Vision for the technical function in alignment with Corporate Strategy, and set out short-, mid- and long-term goals including client specific vision and requirements
  • Define and deliver against the Technology and Development Strategies that set out the role of the technical function in alignment with Corporate Strategy
  • Define secure SDLC processes and manage process improvement to enhance security and delivery
  • Ensure software is compliant with ICH GCP and other appropriate regulations for clinical trials data
Your background, ideally:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of leadership in technology roles, with experience in software development, engineering management, or related fields.
  • Extensive knowledge of modern software development methodologies, technologies, and best practices, with expertise in areas such as cloud computing, big data analytics, machine learning, and cybersecurity.
  • Experience in the healthcare, life sciences, or clinical research industries, with a deep understanding of regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and industry trends.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to translate technical insights into strategic recommendations and drive alignment between technology and business objectives.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
