University of CopenhagenThe University seeks to appoint a clinical professor of Surgery with special focus on endoscopic diagnostics and treatment of gastrointestinal disorders to commence as soon as possible. The externally funded professorship is combined with a consultancy at the Gastrounit Copenhagen University Hospital - Amager and Hvidovre, Hvidovre.It is a requirement for appointment that the applicant is accepted for both the professorship and the consultancy. In order to be considered for the position, the applicant must send two applications: one to the Faculty (the professorship) and one to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the consultancy. In the consideration of applications for the professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant's ability to document a high level of original scientific work at an international level within the area of surgery.The professor's responsibilities will primarily consist of:
  • Research, including publication/academic dissemination
Ensure an evidence-based and safe transition from open abdominal surgery to invasive endoscopy. The research program will focus on ways to optimize current operative modalities in terms of clinical efficacy and cost-effectivenes and innovate surgical clinical trajectories. * Research-based teaching, including associated examinationThe applicant will undertake pre- and postgraduate teaching within these disciplines and in surgery and contribute to continuous development of these areas. Additionally, to implement e-learning. * Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of bachelor and master students as well as PhD studentsThe applicant must be adequately educated and have experience with leadership in a research group. The applicant will be research responsible of the largest surgical department in Denmark with a high volume of emergency patients and subspecialized groups in tertiary care functions with large potential of innovating surgical clinical trajectories through research. * Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 5 years.
