Job DescriptionMaintenance Optimisation and Management – Technical Specialist ​DerbyFull TimeAs the Maintenance Optimisation and Management – Technical Specialist, you will be working in the Engineering for Services capability group, supporting strategic, tactical and people projects across our Submarines business, interacting with wider RR Group and external industry partners. This role will focus on containing disruption, cost and issues in service, in line with contracted and business requirements, by ensuring optimisation of planned and instructed maintenance activity - through;Expertise in the field of predictive maintenance and the generation, optimisation & implementation of Maintenance Policies, inspection requirements, acceptance criteria and associated technical instructions for on-and-off platform.Expertise in relevant industry mandated rules and procedures and relevant methods to define and manage service maintenance policies.Why Rolls-Royce?Rolls-Royce is one of the most enduring and iconic brands in the world and has been at the forefront of innovation for over a century.   • Recognised as an authoritative source of technical expertise and advice in the Submarines Business and viewed as a key member of the broader team of technical expertise by senior capability leadership and external peers.
  • Be a specialist with depth and/or breadth of knowledge in preventative and predictive maintenance, both internally and at industry level.
  • Generate business benefits through the application of specialist technical knowledge within you immediate area of expertise.
  • Represent a critical resource to the “run and maintain” activity of a business, taking an active role in resolving current problems.
  • Support teams and other technical specialists to advance knowledge in their capability area.
Within your area of accountability, you will:
  • Support the development and execution of the strategy with respect to your area of
Specialism, being regarded as a thought leader
  • Lead the definition of capability projects including capturing requirements, creating
proposals, achieving stakeholder approval, acquiring funding and aligning partner support
  • Support the development and application of new capabilities; leads capability development projects
  • Lead the resolution of new and emerging technical, compliance and business problems using analytical processes and professional judgement
  • Proactively accesses internal and external networks of fellow specialists to further the
understanding of the specialist subject; support the implementation of strategic collaborative relationships
  • Provide technical direction to peers and more junior professionals, and technical
leadership to teams and projects within your specialism
  • Supports the definition of skill and professional knowledge within their area of
specialism; identify, co-ordinate and deliver training; supports the development of other specialists; provide active mentoring
  • Ensures appropriate policies, standards and best practices are defined, shared
and adopted
  • Lead the sharing of Best Practice; represent the area as an authority in your defined subject; provides concise justification for decisions; records and captures salient information in reports and systems
