ROLE PURPOSE:
We are currently on the look out for a Educational Developer. The Educational Developer will work with academic and professional staff to ensure that all teaching staff can deliver an innovative and sector-leading approach to learning, teaching and assessment which is underpinned by scholarship.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Educational and Academic Development
● Provide support for staff in the delivery of education and through the provision of
development opportunities for teaching staff to enhance their learning and teaching practice
● Run an annual programme of learning and teaching related CPD activities as set out in the institutional Scholarship Strategy
● Ensure that staff are up to date with academic practices and the changing needs of Higher Education
● With support from the Dean of Academic Practice and Enhancement, lead on a learning and teaching development programme for new teaching staff
● Provide support for colleagues working towards professional recognition of their teaching practice, for example, through their application for Fellowship with Advance HEAcademic Practice and the Curriculum
● Review, and make improvements to, the academic support that is provided and the mechanisms through which students can access this.
● With support from the Dean of Academic Practice and Enhancement, manage the Academic industry. education.Support Team at the institution
● Lead on the development of resources that equip students with the core academic skills that they need to complete their assessments
● Work with the Head of Curriculum and Delivery to ensure that academic skills are embedded within the taught curriculum and that all students are given the opport unity to develop these
skills in an appropriate way
● Contribute to and, where appropriate, lead on the strategic evidence based development ofapproaches to teaching and supporting learning Scholarship, Research and Enterprise● Work with the Executive Dean of Education and the Dean of Academic Practice and
Enhancement to achieve the scholarship, research and enterprise goals of the organisation, as established in the institutional Scholarship Strategy
● Organise regular opportunities for staff to engage with scholarship, research andenterprise activities
● Build the reputation of the Academy through scholarly and industry related practice output
● Support research based modules as appropriate
● Work as part of the Core Education Leadership Team to support the embedding of
scholarship and academic skills into the curriculum and assessments
● Work with the Core Education Leadership Team to organise the annual SymposiumPERSON SPECIFICATION● A Masters, equivalent, or above, qualification in a related area of the Creative Arts or Education
● A teaching qualification in Higher Education or, Senior Fellowship of AdvanceHE, or a commitment to undertake qualification while in postSkills
