This is not an exhaustive list and employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required. Regular and reliable attendance is an expectation of the job.Essential Duty 1: Supports district SLPs with intervention strategies based upon student performance and best practices in the field of speech pathology.Essential Duty 2: Supports district SLPs and school based special education teams with the development and implementation of instructionally appropriate IEPs based on students’ strengths & needs.Essential Duty 3: Supports district SLPs through case management on how to administer formal standardized assessments, interpreting and accessing district student data, and understanding and applying TDOE special education assessment guidelines to determine eligibility.Position SpecificResponsibility 1: Trains and supports district SLPS with all required procedural documentation for students (to include but not limited to assessment reports, therapy data collection, IEPs, re-evaluation documents, progress reporting, and Medicaid documentation).Position SpecificResponsibility 2: Collaborates/consults with all stakeholders across the district (to include but not limited to general education teachers, exceptional education teachers, psychologists, occupational therapists, school counselors, building administrators, coaches, discipline leads etc.) in the management of speech-language disorders as they relate to literacy, communication skills, and their impact on learning.   • Collaborate with other department of exceptional education professionals to participate in working groups, presentations, and revise procedures and policies as needed.
Position SpecificResponsibility 5: Complete TDOE TEAM evaluations for district SLPs.OtherResponsibilities: Performs other duties or tasks as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the responsibilities in this job classification.Education and Experience RequirementsEducation (training/degree): Master’s Degree in the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders or Speech-Language PathologyLicenses, Certifications orRegistrations Required: Tennessee Department of Education Teacher’s License (Practitioner/Professional School Services Provider)Experience: Experience in speech-language pathology and/or exceptional education strongly preferredSkills Required: Communication & listening skills, analytical skills, effective interpersonal skills, flexibility, and organizationTravel – Itinerant non-exempt employees who travel will be using the time clock differently than others and are paid for travel time between work locations. Employee does not or seldom travels Compensatory Time vs. Overtime (Support Non-Exempt Employees only) – Does this department have overtime budgeted, i.e. Maintenance, Transportation, Food Service. If not, employees accrue comp time only.
