Work Hours: 7:00 a.m - 4:00 p.mUnder general direction of the Administrator Officer of Operations, act as lead worker over lower level Maintenance Repair Workers & other assigned staff (e.g. provide guidance, technical advice & training regarding maintenance & repair work in the general maintenance areas of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, building systems, heating & air conditioning (HVAC), emergency generator & grounds); Inspect & monitor work performance of lower level maintenance repair workers & other assigned staff; Provide assistance to supervisor in responding to daily maintenance issues/needs; Does preliminary research for information in order to provide technical advice related to specific electrical, plumbing, heating & cooling system, building systems concerns & ensure work performed meets compliance regulations; Operate state vehicle to transport various equipment, tools, parts, materials & supplies (e.g. light bulbs, paint, shovel) to various locations; Transport state vehicles to dealerships for service &/or repair.Perform skilled & semi-skilled maintenance & repair of equipment (e.g., light fixtures, electrical devices, motors, circuits, & electrical components of heating & cooling systems, fans); Perform skilled & semi-skilled carpentry repairs (e.g., doors, floors, walls, windows, stairways, partitions, modular furniture); Perform skilled & semi-skilled repair of plumbing equipment (e.g., water & sewer lines, trap fittings, plumbing fixtures, pumps, valves, faucets, toilets, sinks); Perform skilled & semi-skilled painting tasks; Operate power & hand tools in making repairs to various systems & equipment; Perform landscaping & ground care; Address snow/ice conditions using plow & salt spreader; Inspect building & equipment for repairs or replacements & perform systematic & routine preventive maintenance on assigned areas on continuous basis (e.g. oversee preventive & predictive maintenance programs & contracts in support of assigned ODPS facilities, estimate repair & remodeling costs & submit recommendations verbally &/or in writing to supervisor).Assist in planning, developing & implementing maintenance & preventive maintenance programs; Provide documentation by providing data for facilities management software programs (e.g. work order program, custom spreadsheets, aperture & other ODPS data processing programs); Assist in formulation & implementation of standard operating procedures for facility training programs & training mandated by regulatory authorities (e.g. employee right-to- know, life safety, industrial truck training, hand tool usage, etc.); With supervisor, arrange for &/or conducts training for above programs; Respond to facility issues in the absence of the Administrative Officer of Operations; May report to other ODPS locations; Perform other related duties as assigned.What’s in it for you:At the State of Ohio, we take care of the team that cares for Ohioans. for more information.QualificationsFormal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in maintenance repair (e.g., basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry & use of associated hand & power tools & equipment). Valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by Sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code; in Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry only, applicants must have successfully completed the mandated basic firefighter/introduction to fire behavior course (S-130/S-190).-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated licensure.
