As part of an effort to make discovery delightful and become the world’s best curator, we are focused on ensuring our coverage reaches the largest audience possible.A lot about youThe Curation team is seeking a dynamic and news-obsessed Senior Editor to join our team to lead, support and help shape the stories watched and read daily by Yahoo users across our desktop and mobile websites. As such, this role requires expert breaking news judgement, compelling headline craftsmanship, strong attention to detail and knowledge of journalistic standards and ethics. Communication and organisation are critical to success in this role. The ideal candidate loves News, Sports, Finance or Entertainment - or all of the above - and thrives in a fast-paced setting. You know how to succeed in an ever-changing environment by adapting as priorities shift. You always lend a hand to a colleague in need and bring an enthusiastic, optimistic and solutions-oriented attitude to your work.Responsibilities:Program the news of the day on , including curation of content, headline writing, video programming, and more as needed.This role will involve staggered hours, and is positioned with a regular working week of Sunday-ThursdayOn Sundays, act as lead news editor and be responsible for our original output in a way that drives growth, engages users and helps set Yahoo UK apart as a trusted brandSupport special projects associated with development and growth, collaborating with editorial, product and other teamsYou will support programming news on AOL.co.ukYou will help execute coverage plans for tentpole events across a variety of content categories, including News, Entertainment, and EcommerceYou will closely track metrics to stay abreast of evolving interests across our ecosystem and use that data to inform editorial decision-makingYou will help manage relationships with important publishers and content partnersDesirable Qualifications:Demonstrable experience reporting, curating content and commissioning on high-traffic websitesWillingness to work non-traditional hours, including early mornings, late nights, overnight shifts and holidays and weekends as needed.Familiarity and experience with complex web content management systems, information architecture and metadataExcellent verbal and written communication skills and a high degree of professionalism over email and in personAn NCTJ qualification or equivalentProven ability to juggle multiple priorities with excellent accuracy and attention to detailYahoo is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
