Aplin has partnered with a Vancouver-based company to hire a Senior Communications Specialist.Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Senior Communications Specialist is responsible for the development and delivery of effective communication plans and programs for our client.The position requires advanced skills in strategic communication planning, writing and editing, project management, and the ability to build strong relationships across the organization. Attention to detail, proactivity and creativity, exceptional organizational skills and the ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously on tight deadlines are vital in this role.Benefits & Perks:

Responsibilities:
  • Support the development and execution of external and internal communications strategies and communications plans that support company priorities and objectives.
  • Develop written content including press releases, communications plans, briefing notes, fact sheets, web copy and other materials.
  • Maintain high writing standards and best practices to ensure the creation of quality, consistent content.
  • Support media relations activities which may include preparing and issuing news releases, liaising with internal contacts to prepare responses to media, and acting as a media contact.
  • Develop strategic digital communications campaigns that support company priorities and business objectives, including but not limited to sustainability initiatives, talent attraction, recruitment and retention.
  • Develop compelling digital content including social media campaigns, video and web website content.
  • Support issues management and crisis communication planning to effectively manage and mitigate reputational risks, including drafting statements and coordinating responses.
  • Provide communications support to business partners across the organization.
  • Ensure consistency of messaging and branding across all communication channels, including internal and external.
  • Provide support to other major communications-related projects and initiatives as required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or other related field.
  • Minimum 8 years experience in Communications.
  • Strong project management skills and experience.
  • Proficient in digital communication tools and platforms, including social media management.
  • Strong understanding of social media communications, marketing and targeting.
  • Experience developing or managing the development of multimedia projects.
  • Ability to work with senior staff in handling the day-to-day management of projects.
  • Experience dealing directly with media is an asset.
  • Experience managing direct reports is an asset.
