Offer DescriptionThe Science and Technology Park Foundation (FCPCT) of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) - Spain offers one project technician position (TCP3 - MECES3) to work in the EU RE-PLACE project.The University Institute of Textual Analysis and Applications (IATEXT) of the ULPGC includes among its lines of research and development the one called "Sociodemographic processes and territory".RE-PLACE project has been funded by Horizon Europe Programme, through the Grant Agreement number 101094087, signed by the European Commission on 09/12/2022 and in which ULPGC is partner of the consortium. The estimated end date of the project is 28/02/2027.The objective of RE-PLACE is to mobilize participatory research in lagging non-metropolitan areas to examine the impact that spatial mobility has on origin and destination areas and how it can be harnessed to enhance alternative local development in different contexts.The University will recruit the best candidate following the recommendations of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. The job offer will be published through a wide range of portals. The evaluation of candidates and their selection criteria will be aligned with the ULPGC policies on equal opportunities.   • Collection and processing of bibliographic databases.
  • Statistical data processing and analysis.
  • Implementation of a geographic information system.
  • Generation of digital cartography.
  • Design of qualitative research instruments.
  • Exploitation and digital analysis of qualitative data.
  • Preparation of interview guides for field work.
  • Development of field work.
  • Design of participatory exercises for the development and application of the "village labs" concept.
  • Creation of communication channels through social networks.
  • Writing of technical reports.
Specific RequirementsCandidates must comply with the following conditions: * Nationality:
  • Spanish nationality or that of one of the other member states of the European Union.
  • Whatever his/her nationality, spouses of Spaniards and nationals of other Member States of the European Union.
  • People included into International Agreements concluded by the European Union and ratified by Spain, related to free movement of workers.
  • Foreign candidates not included in the above paragraphs, legally resident in Spain.
  • Age: be over eighteen.
  • Degrees: degree in Geography and Land Management, or Degree in Geography, or Degree in Geography and History (or equivalent degrees), and a Master's degree in specialties related to Geography (or equivalent MECES3).
Additional InformationBenefitsThis contract is related to specific work and services to be developed by the ULPGC in the context of RE-PLACE project.1. Type of contract: Indefinite-term contract for scientific-technical activities, based on article 23 bis of Law 14/2011, of 1 June, on Science, Technology and Innovation, and other regulatory regulations.2. The purpose of this contract is to carry out activities related to the RE-PLACE project, whose thematic area is linked to the research line called “Sociodemographic processes and territory” of the ULPGC, a project which the ULPGC is developing by virtue of the grant agreement nº 101094087 signed on 09/12/2022 with the European Commission and whose estimated completion date is 28/02/2027.3. Incorporation planned for June 2024.4. The staff to be recruited through this call for proposals with an indefinite contract is not considered permanent staff under any circumstances. The awarding of the employment contract does not imply any commitment on the part of this Foundation, the University or its dependent entities as to the subsequent incorporation of the interested party into the staff of these entities.5. The contract may be terminated for any of the reasons provided for in Royal Legislative Decree 2/2015, of 23 October, approving the revised text of the Workers' Statute Law, or in the rest of the applicable legislation, paying special attention to letter e) of article 52 of the aforementioned RDL 2/2015: insufficiency of the financial allocation of the corresponding appropriation for the maintenance of the employment contract.6. The dedication will be 37.5 hours per week, with exclusive dedication to the project being essential.7. The gross monthly remuneration will amount to 1,599.22 €/month (including the proportional part of the special payments) and a specific supplement of 500€ gross per month.8. A trial period of six months will be established during which the employment relationship may be terminated at the request of either party. Situations of temporary incapacity, maternity, and adoption or fostering, which affect the worker during the trial period, will interrupt the calculation of the trial period.Eligibility criteriaThe following items and scores will be taken into account in order to evaluate the application:Professional experience (Max. 8 points):
  • Professional experience in activities in the field of Geography related to the functions of the position (0.25 points for each month worked, up to a maximum of 7 points).
  • Previous professional experience in collaboration tasks in the preparation of geographical reports (0.1 points for each month worked, up to a maximum of 1 point).
Further training (Max. 1 point):- Possession of a second Master's degree in the field of Geography: 0.5 points- Possession of a Doctorate in the field of Geography: 1 pointOther merits (Max. 1 point):
  • English level of B2: 0.5 points.
  • English level of C1 or higher: 0.7 points.
  • Possession of a driver's license: 0.3 points.
Selection processThose applicants who achieve the four highest scores in the merit assessment phase will be called for an interview. The interview will be conducted in Spanish and/or totally or partially in English, according to the level required for the position. The selected applicants will be summoned, by e-mail, at least three days in advance. The evaluation of the interview will be carried out, up to a maximum of 10 points, based on the following criteria, being necessary a minimum score of 5 points in the interview to be awarded the position:
  • Initiative and ability to work in a team.
  • Capacity for presentation and presentation of results.
  • Motivation.
  • Adequacy of your profile and skills to the functions of the position.
  • Knowledge of the sector in which the activity will be developed.
In case it is necessary, a second interview may be carried out, in order to clarify, complement or deepen in certain aspects necessary to adequately assess this phase.Once this phase of the selection process is completed, the Commission will publish, on the corporate website of the FCPCT of the ULPGC, a final list with the scores of the applicants interviewed, for which the score or evaluation obtained in the merit assessment phase and in the interview, ordered from highest to lowest score, will be accumulated. This list will be submitted to the Managing Director of the FCPCT, proposing the awarding of the position, according to the score obtained by the applicants.The Commission may propose the creation of a reserve list in the event of resignation, failure to meet the requirements, or failure to pass the probationary period of the initially designated applicant; future substitutions due to illness, maternity/paternity, etc.; as well as for new positions in the same category. In this case, the reserve list shall be valid for a period of one year from the date of its publication or until a new call for applications is published.
