Our client seeks a System Engineer to join their team. Role Profile: As a System Engineer you will be responsible for aiding both clients and internal users with their support needs. Working alongside the other members of the operations team you will provide immediate triage of service impacting issues, along with longer term platform support, maintenance and development tasks. Working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same, the ideal candidate will have proven problem-solving skills, the ability to at times work under pressure and to tight deadlines and have experience working in a similar support environment. Strong interpersonal skills are a key requirement and thus you will need to demonstrate the ability to build key internal and external relationships. Key Responsibilities: Working closely with others in the support team to ensure we provide excellent 1st/2nd line support, ensuring support requests are responded to, diagnosed and resolved in a swift and timely manner. Taking ownership of tasks to ensure the appropriate solutions are used to resolve service incidents and requests, even when such resolution calls for 3rd party involvement. Providing regular communication updates, for both customers and internal team members, on the progress of assigned tasks and projects along with any other work-related activities. Assistance engineers, both your internal colleagues and those from 3rd parties or customers as and when required. Create, maintain and update ISO standard documentation library along with contributing articles, corrections and suggestions to technical knowledge base. Keep up to date on new technology trends. Participate in on-call rota scheme. Key Skills and Experience: A keen interest in computer technology including areas such as Networking, Security, WAN technology, Virtualisation and 'As A Service' Cloud platforms. A good working knowledge of a wide variety of ICT hardware such as servers, switches, routers and firewalls. A hands-on approach to 'problem solving' be that in server hardware, operating systems or software packages. A strong work ethic with a commitment to self-improvement and knowledge sharing. Highly organised with an ability to operate autonomously under your own initiative. Flexibility to work outside of core business hours as and when required. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work on your own or as part of a team. Willingness to undertake relevant and appropriate training, including both company driven and personal development. Participate in skill sharing workshops with colleagues to increase the teams overall technical knowledge. In addition to basic IT skills, you will be maintaining or working towards achieving IT related certifications. City & Guilds (E-Quals ICT Systems Support 7262) IT Practitioners Diploma Level 2 and Advanced Diploma Level 3BTEC National Certificate/Diploma for IT Practitioners (ICT Systems Support)OCR (iPRO) Certificate for IT Practitioners (ICT Systems Support) at levels 2 and 3CompTIA i-Net+ Certification. Linux+ CompTIA. Microsoft MCP / MCSE. Preference will be given to those holding or working towards the following Industry related certifications: Cisco CCNA / CCNP. Juniper JNCPVMWare DCT / CMA / NV.
