Offer DescriptionCALL FOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPUniversity of Coimbra opens a call for three research fellowship, in the framework of the project “PRODUTECH R3 (Recuperação-Resiliência-Reindustrialização) - Agenda Mobilizadora da Fileira das Tecnologias de Produção para a Reindustrialização” (reference: 6979), financed by the PRR - Recovery and Resilience Plan and by the Next Generation EU Funds, following NOTICE N.º 02/C05-i01/2022, Component 5 - Capitalization and Business Innovation - Mobilizing Agendas for Business Innovation, in the following conditions:Scientific area: Industrial Engineering and Management or similar areas.Skills/Qualifications/Admission requirements: Master in Industrial Engineering and Management or similar courses, enrolled in an Industrial and Engineering management PhD or similar course. Knowledge of simulation and combinatorial optimization, as well as quantitative and qualitative analyzes and complex operations management models will be valued. Knowledge in spoken and written English will also be valued.Although the recipients must be enrolled in a cycle of studies leading to the attribution of an academic degree, at the time of application it is not necessary for the candidate to have made such an enrollment, and proof of enrollment must be presented until the fellowship is contractualized. Candidates are only required to meet the requirements to enroll in the training offer. If there are candidates already enrolled (including attending a course), they compete on an equal footing with those who are not enrolled.Work plan/Objectives: This fellowship is part of the research project PRODUTECH R3, which aims to develop decision support methods supported in optimization and simulation, which will allow solving combinatorial problems and analysis of systems with different scales. In particular, the work plan includes the development and validation of machine learning algorithms for container transport planning problems, using real-time data from the tracking system. Taking a logistics perspective, the main objective is to consider the main value-added activities and restrictive tasks of the entire logistics process to provide accurate, viable and fast solutions. In addition, relevant challenges posed by digitalization will be studied to develop robust and practical models capable of leveraging business processes and fostering paradigm shifts in logistics network operations..Regime: The attribution of the fellowship does not generate or entitle a relation of a legal-labour nature, and the fellowship is undertaken in an exclusive dedication regime. The fellowship holder is awarded the Fellowship Statute of the UC, in its current wording, according to the Research Fellowship Holder Statute , and according to the Regulation for Research Fellowships of the Foundation for Science and Technology, both in their current wording.Location: Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology at the University of Coimbra.Duration: 12 (twelve) months.Renewal: Eventually renewable.Scientific orientation: Professor Samuel de Oliveira Moniz.Financial conditions: The amount of the fellowship is € 1.259,64 corresponding to the monthly compensation stipulated in the FCT table ( ), plus social security (Seguro Social Voluntário, first level contributions). In addition, the value of the doctoral fee, with a max value of 2.750,00€, for those enrolled in a doctorate at the University of Coimbra, supported through own income, during the period of the research grant and personal accidents insurance. The payment will be made by bank transfer. After the announcement of the results, candidates are considered automatically notified to, if they wish to do so, comment on the results on a preliminary hearing period within 10 days after that date. After this, the selected candidates will have to declare in writing their acceptance. Unless a justification worthy of consideration is presented, if the declaration is not submitted within the referred period, it is considered that the candidate waivers the fellowship.
