This role will be responsible for the industrial controlling activities of the Spanish plant facilities. You will ensure timely and accurate inventory valuation and P&L (gross margin) determination.   • Implement processes and procedures and coordinate periodic inventory counts for Raw Material, WIP, Finished Goods, Supplies, and Spare Parts in compliance with Bunge policies.
  • Monitor with BBS the daily reconciliation of the weighing systems and SAP records. Provide explanations for and resolve relevant discrepancies.
  • Implement, monitor, and ensure compliance of all relevant SOX controls applicable to industrial operations.
  • Coordinate with the operations team the proper execution of PTP processes at the plants. Jointly with the plant manager, ensure POs are properly requested and approved before the non-commodity goods and services are received. Monitor the timely and correct recording of receipts of goods and services.
  • If applicable, periodically evaluate the effectiveness of controls on the spare parts and tools inventories.
  • Partner with Global Insurance to declare stocks, values, and other exposures in an accurate and timely manner. Coordinate the documentation and submission of all insurance claims. Continuously follow up on insurance claims until their final resolution.
  • Establish controls on customer claims and product rejections to facilitate their correct conclusion and accounting recognition.
  • Analyze and periodically coordinate the updating of standard costs in the system in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP, IFRS, local GAAP, where applicable) and with Bunge policies. During the month-end close, analyze and validate all relevant variances between standard and actual costs. Generate and retain the respective documentation to fulfill SOX and internal control requirements.
  • Jointly with FP&A, reconcile and report the main variances between the business forecast and the actual P&L at gross margin level.
  • On quarterly basis, review the value of the physical inventory position and coordinate the recording of any adjustments, as needed.
  • Provide relevant financial information required by Global Controlling and Corporate consolidation teams.
  • Ensure the proper classification between CAPEX and OPEX and provide training to the necessary teams.
  • Validate the necessary approvals are in place before the execution of CAPEX projects.
  • Monitor the CAPEX projects are timely closed and activated.
  • Ensure the correct classification of permanent assets and determination of useful lives.
  • Identify lease obligations at the facility(ies) and coordinate with BBS the respective lease accounting.
  • Periodically evaluate impairment indicators. As required, coordinate with the business controlling team Finite Live Asset impairment tests.
  • According to Bunge's policy, perform fixed asset counts and record assets impairments/write-offs when needed.
Education & Competencies:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or equivalent. Master's degree will be a plus.
  • +/- 5 years' experience in accounting / controlling, preferably in cost accounting / operational controlling within an agricultural commodity or food ingredient company.
  • Limited travel (10%). Could be higher depending on the number of locations in scope.
  • Ability to understand the business operations and utilize such understanding to validate the financial information reported to the corporation.
  • Able to lead multi-functional teams formally and informally.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with various levels in the organization.
  • Experience and desire to work across functional business environments.
  • Flexibility to prioritize multiple responsibilities and activities in high pressure situations.
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and work independently, proactive towards problems and issues.
  • Experience working in controlling, cost accounting, and/or finance, highly desire experience in operational/industrial controlling with multinational companies.
