921 Accounting - Senior AccountantHytrol St, Jonesboro, AR 72401, USA Req #132Tuesday, May 14, 2024Welcome to Hytrol CareersDuties & ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Accountant position has a strong focus on manufacturing cost accounting, inventory control, and month-end close. The candidate should have strong experience in manufacturing cost accounting, cost variance reporting, inventory control, process optimization, and working cross-functionally to help make business operations more cost-efficient. Looking for candidates with 3+ years of experience working for larger companies in a manufacturing environment with financial cost accounting responsibilities. Public Accounting experience in audits with manufacturing clients is helpful. The functions include but are not limited to:Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the monthly financial close process, including preparing/reviewing journal entries, closing various month-end ERP modules, and performing balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Validate accrual amounts vs. spending and suggest true-up amounts on a quarterly basis.
  • Track, report, and analyze plant cost factors such as labor, overhead, and freight.
  • Track and report plant scrap and inventory material usage variances.
  • Performs monthly fluctuation analysis, manufacturing cost variance analysis, and price variance analysis.
  • Assists in physical inventories and cycle counting process as appropriate and monitors monthly inventory levels (raw material, WIP, and finished goods).
  • Book to Perpetual and Book to Physical variance analysis and root cause analysis.
  • Audits and maintains fixed asset schedules; Works with project owners to ensure timely capitalization of equipment placed in service.
  • Validate capital spending with project owners to ensure accurate monthly reporting and facilitate the quarterly capital review meetings.
Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the integrity of the financial information generated.
  • Help to implement consistency and process improvements in inventory control.
  • Performs product line profitability analysis.
  • Analyze and review bills of material to ensure accurate product costing.
  • Will occasionally act as a backup for Accounts Receivable.
  • Assist in performing post-capital project audits to verify savings that are being realized.
  • Assists with preparing monthly and quarterly manufacturing census reports.
  • Assists in the preparation of various reporting spreadsheets for tax or other government agencies.
  • Help to ensure adherence to Hytrol’s accounting/internal control procedures.
  • Performs special studies and analyses under the request and supervision of management.
In the broad context of accounting, additional duties will be required at certain times to increase experience and/or increase workload due to circumstances such as audits, special projects, process implementations, physical inventory, etc.Required and Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of process controls in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment across all levels of the organization is essential.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are a must, and experience in other data analytics software is a plus.
  • The financial nature and scope of responsibilities require any successful candidate for this role to be a person who is detail oriented.
