Job Title: Student Experience Officer (Study Abroad)Department: IR0004 Careers and AppointmentsReporting to: Student Services ManagerThe Student Experience Officer will be an integral part of the Student Experience Department at Dublin Business School. The aim of this role is to provide advice and guidance, and organise support for students with a range of educational and welfare needs. In order to facilitate students’ academic progression and enhance their student experience, the successful candidate will advise on students’ education and welfare- related supports.We aim to provide a positive student experience to enable all our learners to achieve their full potential.   • To undertake the role of Student Experience Officer in DBS and, as such, to ensure that all students have equal access to the services available to enhance their student experience and academic journey.
  • To ensure the development and effective operation of the student support services and maximum promotion of these services to the whole of the student body.
  • To strive to ensure the provision of information and support to all students on academic and welfare issues.
  • Represent Student Services at internal DBS Meetings as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality with students at all times.
Education and Welfare Issues:
  • Promote academic and welfare issues, both internally and externally.
  • Assist individual students in academic/welfare issues and problems, ensuring that they are channelled appropriately for advice and monitor the progress of such cases.
  • Ensure representation on all examination and appeals panels, as required.
  • Work with other members of the Student Services team to organise and promote education and welfare campaigns and other events scheduled.
  • Accurately record all student activity through CRM or other systems as required by the College.
  • Organise activities around themed weeks such as Mental Health Week, and Disabilities Support Week.
  • Promote the Student Experience Department and Education and Welfare of Students among DBS Staff.
  • Promote personal welfare among the DBS student population by class visits, workshops, and partnering closely with the Student Union Body.
  • Manage all initiatives around student welfare and health.
Counselling Referrals:
  • Act as a first point of contact to deal with student issues relating to counselling and welfare needs. Make appropriate referrals and operate an efficient and student-focused service.
External Representation:
  • Liaise with outside bodies, such as Please Talk, CSSI and other agencies relevant to Student Life.
  • Ensure the interests of the student support services, as well as academic and welfare issues are effectively presented at Executive/Management Committee meetings.
  • Attend all relevant College meetings and committees, commensurate with the duties of the Education and Welfare Officer.
  • Sit on any internal or external boards or bodies as deemed appropriate by the Head of Student Experience.
Budgets:
  • Agree all budgetary spend with Head of Student Experience.
Reporting/Marketing:
  • Prepare, plan and execute events throughout the Year within the Calendar of Events prepared by the Student Experience Team.
  • Attend College open evenings as assigned and represent the Student Services department as requested.
  • Develop educational guides relevant to the student body and other specific guides in areas such as education, welfare and disability.
  • Manage the communications and electronic content to students via websites and social media.
Quality Assurance:
  • Work with academic staff and students to facilitate event management initiatives (full- time, part-time and study abroad).
  • Attend and present on services provided at Staff development presentations.
  • Produce Student Services Guide Series.
  • Assisting with key events for the college including: Themed Weeks, Open Days/Evenings, Graduation Ceremonies & Student Inductions.
  • Attend academic impropriety hearings when required.
Other Duties:
  • Flexibility is required to meet any other duties that may arise in relation to the Student Experience Officer post.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate and possess:A relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.Experience of working with young adults as well as mature students preferably in Higher Education.An understanding of student welfare needs in the wider context of diversity and inclusion.Experience of liaising with external and internal parties about individual support requirements.Strong organisational abilities, time management and record keeping skills.Good communication skills, both oral and written including report writing and presentation skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent organisational skills and knowledge and understanding of privacy and confidentiality regulations regarding maintenance of student records.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Pay & BenefitsThe salary for this role is €30K.Free Internal Courses;Discounted Fees for Family Members;Life Assurance & Disabilities Cover;Sports & Social;Employee Assistance Programme;Employee Discount Scheme;Paid sick leave;Death-In-Service Benefit.This job description is a guide to the work the post holder will initially be required to undertake.
