POSITION SUMMARY:As a Mechanical Designer/Engineer at Shred-Tech, you'll play a pivotal role in crafting cutting-edge products that cater to our mobile division's customer requirements. Leveraging your engineering prowess and understanding of industry standards, you'll devise designs that excel in efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.Collaborating closely with our manufacturing division, you'll ensure seamless translation of your designs into production, optimizing processes for efficiency and efficacy. Moreover, your collaboration with our sales and marketing teams will ensure alignment with customer needs and market demands, fostering success in our product offerings.RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for leading and functioning as the key design engineer for engineering projects.
Develop holistic machine designs including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical disciplines.
Research, design, and coordinate building of new product models and improvements to existing Shred-Tech product line.
Create and maintain proper engineering documentation, including BOMs, drawings, and ECO's.
Create 3D models and manufacturing drawings utilizing 3D (SolidWorks) CAD systems.
Coordinate projects, liaise with suppliers, perform test and validation, research and development and have hands-on involvement in product and component design.
Work closely with manufacturing engineering and production personnel in the building of prototype equipment to ensure conformity to engineering design, customer specifications, and design for manufacturability
Assist in developing project plans, budgets and schedules that are achievable and satisfy business requirements.
Manage assigned product development projects and provide weekly status reports to ensure achievement of defined objectives: deliverables, timing, budgets.
Provide detailed analyses of components, assemblies, and systems.
Prepare engineering documentation, drawings, BOM's, ECN's and product manuals.
Peer mentorship.QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics,
Eligible for CET or P. EngExperience:5-8 years of design, analysis and project management in custom equipment, heavy machinery, metal fabrication, system assembly and testing.Specific Skill Ability and Knowledge:Experience in SolidWorks, FEA, and ERP/MRP systems.
Experience in mechanical design - gear, drive, electrical, and hydraulic design are assets.
Excellent analytical abilities with a strong materials background.
Strong project management skills - planning, organizing problem solving & decision-making.
Demonstrates professional communication skills in dealing with customers, suppliers, and business partners.
