We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Operative to join our team.Our Maintenance Operatives are responsible for ensuring that our properties are maintained to the correct level, and any works that need to be carried our are done in line with specific timescales. Duties include:
  • Ensure a high standard of workmanship when carrying out maintenance repairs to the Home.
  • Inform the Maintenance Coordinator of any faults that may incur significant expenditure or require a specialist contractor.
  • To liaise daily with Maintenance Administrator to ensure that daily whereabouts are adhered to and to inform of any problems relating to prepared diary.
  • To ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed correctly and legibly and issued to the Maintenance Administrator in accordance with Voyage policy.
  • To be contactable by phone daily between 8:00am and 6:00pm to discuss any issues.
  • Hours of work are 37.5 per week. Work starts at 8:00am by travelling to Voyage property. Work ends at 4:00pm when leaving Voyage property and travelling home.
  • It may be a requirement to occasionally stay overnight (in Hotel), at the discretion of the Maintenance Coordinator, to facilitate works at Homes further away than an acceptable travelable distance.
  • Communicate all potential additional maintenance work with Service Manager to establish the level/schedule of work required.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with service users, staff and visitors by being considerate, courteous and presenting a clean and tidy appearance.
  • Use materials in order of date of purchase to minimise wastage and to ensure that when purchasing materials, value for money is obtained.
  • Keep any designated work/storage areas clean and tidy, with regard to relevant health and safety requirements, including ensuring that COSHH materials stored correctly in accordance with COSHH procedures
  • Occasional attendance at homes/services as required to load and unload furniture items and/or domestic appliances.
  • To attend any training that Voyage consider applicable.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the operation of the following services in each home/service
  • Emergency lighting systems where applicable, fire panels, break glasses and fire doors.
  • Lighting - re-fixing or replacement of fittings including emergency lighting
  • Electrical repair/replacements within the scope of Part P
  • Plumbing system including waste outlets, taps, sanitary ware, unblocking of drains, toilets etc
  • Laundry equipment including connecting and disconnecting of machines, including plumbing in of replacement machines as necessary and removal from site of redundant equipment
