If speculative CVs are sent, no fee will be applicable - please direct all queries to the relevant Resourcing Partner.SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR- AVRSNATIONWIDEWhat you will be doing:An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team at AVRS, a Galliford Try business.As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the quantity surveying l function of the business, managing junior/ trainee QS's and an in house planner to ensure the correct commercial operations of the contracts the company undertakes.
- Management of the administration of contracts.
- Managing and coaching quantity surveyors & Trainee Quantity Surveyors.
- Managing and reporting of Contract and Variation performance.
- Advising management on all contract related matters.
- Subcontract procurement.
- Client commercial management.
- Ensuring that the QA / ISO policies of the company are implemented across from a commercial perspective.
- Establishing and maintaining strong working relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
- Representing the company to senior managers of client organisations.
- Maintaining the budget of your projects. This includes approving the spending of those below you as well as lobbying management for additional funds when required. Any application for additional funds must be made via a business case which should be presented to line managers who shall ultimately have the final say on the spend.
- Routinely meeting with direct reports to assess the progress of the business, creating action plans for resolving negative issues. You will then be responsible for reporting this information to the board of directors.
- Conducting regular reviews of the performance of those who report to you. Additionally you will be responsible for ensuring that coaching, including soft skills and technical training is provided, for the purpose of assisting employees in improving their performance and ultimately the profitability of the Business.
- Previous managing quantity surveying experience
- To have thorough knowledge of and compliance with relevant engineering procedures and standards.
- Degree Qualified with suitable experience.
- Have detailed knowledge of relevant specifications, legislations, standards, regulations, guides and best practice.
- Excellent oral & written communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of Construction Contracts (in particular NEC3 and IChemE)
- Tendering experience.
