The Business Manager is responsible for managing, developing, and growing the business and product maximizing its market appeal, optimizing the production capability, maximizing productivity, and presenting the business as the market-leading tube packaging business in Africa and the leading profit maker for the company.ÂÂ ...POSITION INFO:ÂThe Business Manager is responsible for managing, developing, and growing the business and product maximizing its market appeal, optimizing the production capability, maximizing productivity, and presenting the business as the market-leading tube packaging business in Africa and the leading profit maker for the company.ÂÂEngineering (Production and Technology):Â
  • Oversee the production processes and technology implementation within the business unit.
  • Operational Planning horizon of up to 1 year including input into budget, Capex, machine utilisation, labour structures and performance targets.
  • Plan, organise, direct and control optimum operations to meet company and customer’s expectations / performance standards in line with OTIF, budget, costs and quality standards.
  • Optimise production capability through the application of
principles and continuous improvement initiatives, inclusive of process improvement and automation, maximizing efficiency and productivity. * Ensure adherence to company standards and best practices.Commercial / Development / Marketing:Â
  • Regularly analyze systems and processes used within the Tubes department and their relevance against the market/customer requests.
  • Investigate and identify new processes/machinery/systems which could be used to create new products requested by customers.
  • Establish commercial and technical feasibility of investing in new processes/machinery/systems.
  • Partner with the marketing team to maximize relevance and market appeal.
People Management:Â
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team.
  • Build and sustain a positive working environment, promoting a culture which reflects the organisations values, delivers performance and continuous improvement.Â
  • Implement workforce planning strategies to meet operational demands.Â
Compliance:Â
  • Ensure all operations comply with relevant company and national legislation and regulations.
  • Stay abreast of changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with legal and regulatory affairs teams to address compliance issues.Â
Sales/ /Supply:Â
  • Optimise logistics and supply chain processes to meet customer expectations.
  • Drive sales growth through effective operational support.
ÂQuality Assurance:Â
  • Develop and implement quality control processes to ensure product/service quality.
  • Analyse data and implement corrective actions to address quality issues.
  • Work closely with quality assurance teams to maintain high standards.Â
Financial:Â
  • Manage financial focus areas and cash-flow authorities as directed in line with scope of authority (stock and procurement).Â
Reporting and Administration:Â
  • Reporting as per performance standard and deadline.
Project Management:Â
  • Lead, manage and control various projects.Â
Self – Development and Growth:Â
  • Realistic assessment of own strengths and development areas and undertake actions to address weaknesses.Â

  • Grade 12
  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Development in Management Skills, including
and . * At least 15 years’ experience in plastics manufacturing, with insight into tubes manufacturing processes and technology an advantage.
  • At least 15 years’ experience in a managerial role.
  • Lean Manufacturing, ISO and Health and Safety Qualifications an advantage
  • Experience in project management.Â
