The School of Science & Engineering (SSEN) at the University of Dundee delivers research and education across a range of STEM disciplines. Our mission is to be globally renowned for the development of innovation and technology that will deliver a more equitable, inclusive and sustainable future.Biomedical Engineering is committed to delivering the next generation of medical diagnostic and treatment technologies and protocols. We offer undergraduate and postgraduate degrees including co-delivery of a Joint Educational Programme (JEP) in Biomedical Engineering with North-Eastern University, China.Research in Biomedical Engineering is focussed through the Centre for Medical Engineering & Technology (CMET). CMET is a joint initiative between the Schools of Science & Engineering, and Medicine. It brings together anatomists, clinicians, engineers, physicists, and surgeons to develop world-leading research and knowledge exchange.The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer will be a key appointment for the School, providing strategic input to the discipline. The role holder will be expected to assist with the development and delivery of our teaching programmes including the JEP. Moreover, they will be expected to further strengthen and expand collaboration between Biomedical Engineering and key clinical partners in NHS Tayside and in the School of Medicine.Your priorities will include:
  • Publish research outputs that meet the highest standards of excellence in terms of originality, significance and rigour, and present work at national and international conferences
  • Attract and supervise doctoral students
  • Instigate and nurture appropriate opportunities to participate in interdisciplinary research and knowledge exchange with other academic or industrial partners
  • Carry out teaching and supervision at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
  • Identify and engage with opportunities to further integrate industria l experiences, applied learning, and interdisciplinary connections into curriculum design
Who we're looking for:
  • A PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Physics or closely related subject
  • An outstanding track record in research (including successful PhD supervision - Grade 9), impactful research outputs of internationally excellent quality, and external funding commensurate to with level of experience
  • Evidence of the successful delivery and organisation of learning and teaching activities that provides students
with integrated, translational learning experiences
  • Demonstrable ability to work collaboratively with others including clinicians
