The day-to-day
- Participate in both Engineering and Operations environments – accomplishment in both domains is desired. You will work with a collaborative team of system, electrical, mechanical, software, manufacturing, production test engineers and more to ensure a successful product lifecycle.
- Initial assignment will be to become the responsible engineer… a ‘subject matter expert’, for a major Satellite communications subsystem (Gateway Terminal). You will advise on technical matters relating to test and repair.
- You will investigate and propose solutions to problems involving the design and production of complex RF, baseband and digital communications hardware and software.
- Analysis of test data; manipulate, interpret and draw conclusion from test results. Identify holes in test strategy and propose solutions.
- Monitor, identify and investigate issues affecting product performance and yield.
- Mentor production technical resources. Identify and facilitate new tools and test cases to assist in streamlining test flow.
- Prepare for and present technical findings to peers and management.
- Create debug guides for less experienced personnel.
- Work with suppliers to solve complex problems affecting product yield and performance.
- Travel to suppliers and other company locations as necessary. Up to 10% domestic and international travel. Frequent travel to Carlsbad, CA may be required initially (during product migration).
- A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- An experienced professional with a solid understanding of Digital circuit and digital communications design.
- Excellent understanding of computer hardware and networking. Experience with test scripts and test automation is essential.
- Must have outstanding bench troubleshooting skills (to component level). Must be very well versed in the use of basic Analog and Digital test equipment. Familiar with FPGA and uContoller programming and debug.
- Experience in the design, production and test of Digital communications hardware and assemblies.
- Must have excellent computer skills, strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with others from multiple disciplines.
- Able to work on projects or a program of complex scope with minimal supervision (emphasis will be on results).
- US Citizenship is required
- Up to 10% travel
- Ability to obtain a US security clearance
- Understanding of RF communications system design including modulation, demodulation, RF signal chain tradeoffs.
- Labview experience.
