OCTA's core values consist of integrity, teamwork, communication, customer focus, and can-do spirit.Overview:Under supervision, performs day-to-day operations, as well as maintenance, problem diagnosis, and repairs to building and office facilities, machinery and equipment. Equipment includes fuel systems, gas detection systems, air conditioners and heaters (HVACs/Boilers), compressors, etc. are operational and fully compliant with all health and safety policies, practices, and regulatory requirements are met.The salary for this position is:$24.25 - Starting Rate per hour25.81 - After completion of six (6) months33.63 - Top rate after thirty six (36) monthsThis posting will remain open until a candidate is selected.Responsibilities:This list is intended to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification and is not designed to be interpreted as an exhaustive listing of all tasks required of employees assigned to this job.
  • Visually inspects and troubleshoots fueling delivery and distribution systems, equipment and monitoring and dedicated detecting systems within time and quality measurements to ensure all operational, health, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements are met.
  • Maintains and repairs fueling systems and equipment within time and quality measurements to ensure all operational, health, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements are met.
  • Inspects, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs systems including air conditioners, boilers, compressors, bus washes, hydraulics, etc. within time and quality measurements to ensure all operational, health, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements are met.
  • Inspects, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs electrical apparatus and distribution systems, including panels, circuits, switches, solenoids, control boards, motors, generators, lighting, and three-phase industrial systems up to 480 volts, within time and quality measurements to ensure all operational, health, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements are met.
  • Inspects, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs of facilities plumbing, systems, within time and quality measurements to ensure all operational, health, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements are met.
  • Oversees and ensures work performed by contracted services meet contractual time and quality measurements to ensure all operational, health, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements are met.
  • Maintains records, spreadsheets, logs, reports, systems, certifications, permits, etc., within city, county, state, and federal compliance requirements within time and quality measurements to ensure successful governmental and/or Agency audit results.
  • Completes and/or performs special assignments and construction projects, utilizing skills including welding, painting, landscaping, masonry, etc. within time and quality measurements.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and/or repairs facilities' safety and test systems within time and quality measurements.
Qualifications:Any combination of education and experience equivalent to one year of full-time training or education in Industrial Technology, Electrical Maintenance, or similar program at a recognized trade school or apprenticeship and three years related experience performing mechanical and electrical facilities construction and/or maintenance work on mechanical equipment in an industrial facility environment, i.e., installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. Prefer HVAC, electrical, or alternative fuel systems experience. Prefer Electrical Safety Worker and/or HAZWOPR certification designation(s).Special Qualifications:
  • Must possess valid California Driver License with a good driving record.
  • Must utilize OSHA-required and/or Agency mandated personal protective equipment when needed.
  • Must be able to wear respiratory protection.
Knowledge of:
  • Industrial machinery troubleshooting and equipment repair.
  • Lighting and low voltage electrical repair.
  • Low and high voltage systems up to 480 VAC.
  • Facilities maintenance repair and related construction.
  • Hazardous systems material handling (HAZMAT).
  • OSHA safe work practices.
  • Computer software skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications such as MS Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Time management principles.
Ability to:
  • Safely operate hand and power tools used in maintaining buildings and facilities.
  • Diagnose and correct malfunctions in industrial and automated facilities equipment.
  • Lift and move moderately heavy objects, work from ladders and in confined spaces.
  • Read and comprehend instruction manuals, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), notices of regulatory compliance, etc., and act upon content.
  • Listen attentively, analyze situations, interpret complex data, identify problems, recommend solutions, and evaluate outcomes to determine strategies to adopt an effective course of action.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Work independently and proactively, either alone or as part of a team, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Operate a forklift and man-lift and work above 30ft via a lift.
  • Prioritize, organize and perform multiple responsibilities to meet time constraints and deadlines.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with tact and diplomacy with the public, management, contractors, and other internal/external customers.
  • Travel to and from offsite locations within reasonable timeframes.
