The Electrical Design Engineer role will report to our Head of Design and play an integral part in AEN successfully fulfilling our mission. The role requires a dynamic and flexible person with a good level of electrical engineering knowledge and experience, a keen attention to detail, a commitment to the Engineering Council Code of Ethics and a passion for quality.The role will have involvement and input at many stages throughout a project lifecycle; from answering queries and providing guidance at concept design and tender stages of a project (within AEN and with our ICP customers), reviewing and approving design submissions from ICPs, to providing technical input where necessary to support the asset adoption process (e.g. reviewing commissioning results).You will be joining a growing company, as such there are likely to be opportunities to gain experience in wider activities outside of the core Electrical Design Engineer role as the company moves forwards in it’s journey.Core Responsibilities of the Role:
- Providing technical support to ICPs and other parts of AEN to assist with queries at the early stages of projects.
- Thoroughly reviewing and approving design submissions received from ICPs for residential and I&C projects with LV and HV POC voltages.
- Assisting with the review and approval process for EHV design submissions from ICPs.
- Network analysis and design activities related to our networks to facilitate point of connection offers being issued in response to applications for connections to our networks
- Strong general IT skills

- Self-starter, able to work independently and possessing strong self-discipline
- Highly organised with attention to detail, effective time and workload management skills
- Committed to following the Engineering Council Code of Ethics and the IET Code of Conduct
- Ability to think critically to find effective solutions to problems
- Ability to form good relationships with DNOs and ICPs
- Electrical Engineering qualification (Degree or HNC/HND) or qualified by experience.
- Experience in design and planning of DNO/IDNO networks (LV & HV) would be an advantage.
