Job Title: Instrument TechnicianLocation: Lynemouth Power StationSalary: £37,384.20-£41,538 per annum plus £8,083 per annum continental day shift allowance = £45,467.20 per annum starting, rising to £49,621 per annum after 13 week probation period.Hours:12-hour full continental day shift pattern which working 8am-8pm.Shift pattern: 2-off, 2-in, 3-off, 2-in, 2-off, 5-in, 2-off, 3-in, 2off, 2in, 3 off rotatingContract / Permanent: PermanentSite Based / Office / Remote: Site - Lynemouth Power StationStart Date: ASAPJob Overview:Are you ready to embark on a thrilling journey into the future of Control & Instrumentation?Lynemouth Power Station is on the lookout for dynamic individuals to join our Maintenance Department as instrument technicians, contributing to a future filled with innovation and growth.As a key member of our onsite multi-disciplined Maintenance teams, you will play a pivotal role in the maintenance and repair of all plant and equipment, shaping the landscape of electrical generation and fuel handling activities.Reporting to the C&I Maintenance Engineer, your responsibilities will involve performing planned and reactive maintenance on a diverse range of electrical, control, and instrumentation equipment.Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Performing planned and reactive maintenance on electrical, control, and instrumentation equipment.
  • Mastering the art of fault finding and rectifying issues on DCS, SCADA, and PLCs.
  • Executing planned preventative maintenance schedules (PPMs) with precision.
  • Adhering to site safety rules and championing safe systems of work (SSOW).
  • Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental standards.
  • Assisting with outage activities to guarantee seamless EC&I work completion.
  • Delivering accurate maintenance reporting through our Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Developing and implementing engineering procedures, risk assessments, and guidance documents.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:
  • Background in a fast-paced heavy process environment.
  • Proficiency in fault finding and problem-solving on DCS, SCADA, and PLCs.
  • Ability to read and interpret EC&I drawings/documents.
  • Experience with Motors, Switchgear Cubicles (MCCs), control panels, Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), and instrumentation calibration.
  • Capability to fault-find and repair electrical, control, and instrumentation assets.
  • Knowledge of safe systems of work, including permit to work, method statements, and risk assessments.

Qualifications:
  • Time served EITB or NVQ apprenticeship (or equivalent) in Electrical or Control or Instrumentation discipline (essential).
  • IOSH (desirable).
  • Engineering HNC (desirable).
  • Comp Ex qualification or a willingness to complete the specific training (desirable).
