- Provide security at public functions.
- Traffic direction at major events.
- Ensures the safety and security of prisoners.
- Transport prisoners between facilities.
- Assist full time deputies where directed by the Sheriff.
- Provide Emergency First Aid in the field.
- Attends required training sessions, including but not limited to: defense arrest tactics, CPR Instruction.
- Carries out duties as directed by the Sheriff.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must be 21 years of age or older; 18 years of age or older if enrolled in an accredited criminal justice degree program.
- Successful completion of Non-Sworn Reserve Deputy - Field Training Officer (FTO) training and evaluation program.
- Ability to operate a standard police radio.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, ordinances and departmental policies and procedures which impact duties in jail or patrol.
- Knowledge of personal self-defense.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to use tact and courtesy in maintaining an effective working relationship with department employees, county supervisors, county officials, and general public.
- Ability to react quickly, both mentally and physically, use tack and discretion to optimize safety and control to any situation.
- Ability to and skill to use and operate a variety of police and jail equipment.
