About the RoleWe are hiring an Accounts Assistant is to be responsible for processing the financial transactions of the company in a timely and effective manner to the company’s standards and procedures and in accordance with statutory requirements and to deliver reliable, accurate and timely financial information as required by management.About Petworth PlacesPetworth Places is made up of several teams of dedicated people building a destination hospitality and food and beverage business with Stay, Eat, Visit at the heart of the business. E Street Bar and Grill joined the global Chaine des Rotisseurs in 2022.In 2019 we established a new wedding venue and events business which is growing steadily and in 2022 we launched our wine series events at E Street Bar and Grill, which has been a greatsuccess.ResponsibilitiesFor Market Town Developments Limited Group (‘MTD’) and The Angel Inn (Petworth) Limited (‘AIP’):
  • Collate and input receipts and expenses purchase invoices to Sage and ensure correct coding
  • Reconcile supplier statements, respond to supplier queries and prepare regular payment lists
  • Ensure all supplier invoices are loaded and statements reconciled in the first 3 working days of the month
  • Input receipts/invoices to Sage to reconcile credit card statements
  • Maintain utility meter records and ensure accurate billing
  • Complete monthly pension assessments for MTD/AB workplace pensions by 10th of the month and input to payroll. Submit monthly pension contributions
  • Update MTD and AB pension schemes with joiners and leavers
  • For pensions complete cyclical re – enrolment assessment, yearly data review, and re-declaration to regulatory body to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Allocate bank statements to sage and update cash book when required
  • Ensure proper recording of VAT
  • Petty Cash reconciliation for MTFL
  • Make Supplier payments through the bank (on approval of Finance Controller)
  • Process payroll including:
  • Prepare month end data, including (but not limited to) Hours worked, Holiday, absenteeism, prior month adjustments, pension, expenses and send to third party payroll provider in accordance with agreed timetable
  • Review final payroll files from third party provider and authorise accordingly
  • Respond to payroll queries and prepare ad hoc analysis and reporting
  • Update holiday accrual records and distribute to manager. Respond to holiday accrual queries
  • Prepare payroll for Mereworth on in – house software
  • Establish and enforce financial control environment across all companies, ensuring full legal and statutory compliance with generally accepted accounting policies and HMRC regulations.
  • Support the Finance Team, Finance Controller and CEO and perform ad hoc tasks & projects as required
Experience and Qualifications
  • The successful candidate will possess the following:
  • Qualified AAT Level 3 or qualified by experience.
  • Previous relevant experience of maintaining accounting records for a property company
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of Sage
