- Provides guidance and direction to the staff. Oversee day-to-day responsibilities within the veterinary center
- Assist Licensed Veterinary Technicians in providing prompt and professional customer service in all aspects of their interactions with MH clients. Promote a customer-centered environment
- Train new employees and volunteers in established medical protocols, ensuring compliance throughout the team
- Provide input for performance reviews and assist with the screening and hiring process
- Help evaluate animal health and behavioral concerns, administering medications and performing vaccinations
- Work with staff on proper cleaning protocols, MH husbandry standards, section checks, and animal care. Ensure compliance with all MH policies and procedures
- Assist with management duties, such as: opening or closing the Veterinary Center, as needed, ordering food and supplies, developing work schedules, completing customer call-backs, reporting maintenance concerns, assisting with problem-resolution involving customers, volunteers, or staff, making bank deposits, etc.
- Ensure humane euthanasia protocols are followed; attend MHS euthanasia training and assist with euthanasia drug management
- Performs staff duties alongside technicians
- High school diploma and a minimum of 12-18 months of relevant experience, including at least 1 month in veterinary medicine
- Must be a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or have the ability to obtain a license in the state of Michigan
- Prior supervisory or team leader experience preferred
- Must possess knowledge of safe animal handling techniques and veterinary best practices
- Basic math and computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office
