Start the next chapter of your career with Crane Aerospace & Electronics!Job Summary:The CNC Programmer designs, develops and maintains source programming, and generates post processors to create CNC programs for numerically controlled machining centers to machine parts to blue print specifications.Essential Functions:CNC part programs (G codes) along with set-up documentation required to run the part on a CNC machining centerCompile and test programs, incorporating required corrections and revisions to prepare tooling, programming, and documents for full production with the CNC MachinistParticipate in design and development of appropriate cutting tools for CNC machined partsPrepare and document instructions and set-up sheets for CNC MachinistsInterface with users as requiredDetermine the sequence of machine operations and select the proper cutting tools needed to machine work pieces into blue print specificationsRevise CNC programs to eliminate machining errors and retest programs to check that problems have been solved and meet blue print specificationsUnderstand job orders, blueprints, and specifications in order to calculate dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates; Determine data reference points, machine cutting/tooling paths,or hole locations, and compute angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvaturesObserve machines on trial runs and conduct computer simulations to ensure that CNC programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet blue print specificationsUse CAM software to generate programs in the language of a machine's controller and store programs on DNC systemModify existing CNC programs to enhance cycle timesMaintain source programs in a secure environment in network systemMaintain and adhere to all standard safety protocolsAny other task assigned by supervisor or managementMinimum Qualifications:Experience: 5+ years of relevant work experienceKnowledge: Basic knowledge of tooling and CNC programming; Knowledge of CAD/CAM software; Programming experience with Unigraphics or similar CAM software for 3-axis to 7-axis part programsSkills/Abilities: Ability to interpret blueprints and work orders; Extensive experience in machining parts to blue print specifications; Ability to work effectively in a team environmentEducation/Certification: College-level training or equivalent in math and computer technologyEligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information.
