Vascular Access Procedures:
- Perform the insertion, maintenance, and removal of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC lines) with precision and adherence to best practices.
- Utilize ultrasound guidance for optimal catheter placement.
- Monitor and assess the condition of vascular access sites, ensuring the highest standards of care.
- Infusion Therapy:
- Administer and manage intravenous (IV) therapies, medications, and fluids as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Monitor patients during infusion therapy, assessing for any adverse reactions and taking appropriate actions.
- Patient Education:
- Educate patients and their families about the purpose, care, and maintenance of PICC lines and other vascular access devices.
- Provide comprehensive instructions on infection prevention and self-care to ensure patient safety.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and seamless patient care.
- Documentation:
- Accurately document all aspects of patient care, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes, in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Quality Improvement:
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and optimize vascular access procedures.
Education and Licensure:
- Current RN licensure in NM and TX.
- Certification in Vascular Access (VA-BC or similar) is highly desirable.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with a focus on vascular access and infusion therapy.
- Proficient in ultrasound-guided PICC line insertion.
- Skills:
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and patient education skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
