Network and Security Engineer

• Designing, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Monitor and optimising network performance for reliability;
• Conducting network capacity planning and scalability assessments;
• Deploying and managing security technologies like firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and VPNs;
• Staying updated on emerging cybersecurity threats and adapting security measures accordingly;
• Performing vulnerability assessments and penetration testing;
• Collaborating with internal teams to resolve security issues;
• Creating and enforcing security policies and procedures to meet industry standards and regulations;
• Educating employees on security best practices through training;
• Evaluating, selecting, and managing third-party vendors and solutions for networking and security;
• Maintaining accurate records of network configurations, security policies, and incident reports; and,
• Creating comprehensive network and security documentation for reference and training.

• Proven experience in network engineering and security, including designing and managing complex network environments;
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field;
• Professional certifications, such as Fortinet, Palo Alto, HPE, Cisco or equivalent, are preferred;
• Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and security best practices;
• Familiarity with firewall management, intrusion detection/prevention, and VPN technologies;
• Proficiency in network and security monitoring tools;
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills;
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team; and,
• Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).
