JOB PURPOSEGroup Business Architects work within the Technology Office as a “hinge” between Business and IT and between strategy and execution. They support business evolution through innovation, transformation and operational excellence. Business Architecture being one of the key strategic initiatives to become a Tech-Led company, his role is to:· Align execution with business Strategy and IT with the business.· Describe primary business functions of the enterprise, categorise them and provide a comprehensive visualisation.· Ensure clarity and consistency in customer’s needs and provide the right business visualisation.· Identify capabilities dependencies and overlaps, key business functions and processes, to frame business focus and priorities.· Optimise global consistency and convergence by eliminating redundancy, and poor business values.· Contribute to Strategic initiatives to drive informed investment decisions.MISSIONSThe priorities of the role depend on the specific needs and maturity of the business at any given time and intentionally overlap with other disciplines.Strategy Activities· Support the definition of business and IT strategies, ensuring that these are formalized and aligned with customer needs.· Define and share the worldwide Business Architecture, ensuring that new activities are consistent with it.Portfolio Alignment· Assist in formalizing and aligning business and IT strategies.· Define common shared capabilities and map strategies against these to identify their impact.· Facilitate the creation of delivery plans that reflect the needs of the target architecture, business, and delivery dependencies.· Challenge projects to eliminate gaps, inconsistencies, and duplication.Initiative Alignment· Be actors of change during business transformation initiatives helping them to remain aligned with the Business Architecture.· Strive for business simplification by standardizing and automating process and product portfolios where possible.· Build and maintain the Business Architecture deliverables required to support initiative alignment.Practice Support· Contribute to the definition and diffusion of Business Architecture best practice and assets as defined by the BA Community (BAWG).· Assist in the establishing an effective Business Architecture practice in Group.Additional Specifics For This RoleAs a Group function this role will focus on three areas in particular:· Assist in delivering “top down” alignment between the Group Business Strategy and Strategic Investment Portfolio via a focus on common capabilities.· Gather, enhance and communicate best practices to those teams where we are extending Business Architecture practice.· Deliver Business Architecture support for projects delivered within Group IT.QualificationsExperience· Business knowledge of the insurance and ability to conduct market search.· Knowledge of related architecture or operational disciplines (e.g. data architecture, product or process design).· Experience in modelling business processes using a variety of tools and techniques.· Minimum 5 years of experience in Insurance market.Capabilities· Capacity for observation and intuition to recognize structural issues, functional interdependencies, and cross-silo redundancies.· Collaborative and respectful in a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural context.· Strong situational analysis and ability to resolve multi-factor problems and conflicts.· Creative and able to “think out of the box.”· Ability to visualize and create high-level models of the business architectureTechnical Skills· Good communication skills (English is mandatory) : this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations.· Analytical and logical ability to interpret scenarios, express concepts or models and maintain consistency.· Knowledge and experience of Business Architecture methodologies (e.g. TOGAF, Business Model Canvas, BizBok) and practices (e.g. capability mapping, value stream mapping, value proposition design etc.).· Design thinking and other innovation techniques.
