We are a values-led business and expect our colleagues to live, breathe, and embed Quality, Accountability, and Trust into their ways of working.The role:A great opportunity has arisen at Hovis Nottingham we're looking for Bakery Operatives to play a key role in supporting our Operations Team.Reporting to the Production First Line Manager, the successful candidate will be required to work a shift pattern involving working 12-hour day shifts and night shifts, four on four off, including weekends.What Might I Be Doing?
  • Accurately weighing out and preparing ingredients for mixing
  • Mixing, dividing and shaping dough prior to proving
  • Setting temperatures and cooking times for different products
  • Baking various types of bread
  • Wrapping, slicing, and packaging bread products
  • Cleaning machinery and workstation
What Will Be Expected Of Me?
  • You'll need to be able to read and understand labels and instructions
  • You must have enough knowledge of IT systems to allow you to programme the machinery
What Can I Expect?
  • On the factory floor, you'll have to wear protective clothing which will include ear protection, a hair net and a white coat
  • Although some of the work is now automated you may still be expected to do a degree of lifting
What about Further Training?
  • You will be trained up to become an expert at your trade and receive Health & Safety and Food Safety training during your induction period

  • Operating the plant and process in a safe and compliant manner
  • Complete robust daily plant start-up integrity checks
  • Being accountable for the production of high-quality products that are safe
  • Completing documentation accurately and promptly
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness
  • Effectively communicating and liaising with all other departments
Ideal Experiences / Qualifications / Capabilities:
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills
  • Basic verbal & written communication skills
  • Strong basic problem-solving skills working within defined parameters
  • Basic keyboard skills and IT aptitude to input and access data
Desirable:
  • Experience working in a bakery
  • A basic Food Hygiene & Food Safety qualification
  • Basic Health & Safety qualification
  • Aptitude for basic mechanical & electrical tasks
