  • ER case management including wellbeing issues, short and long term sickness management, probationary periods, performance management, settlement agreements, conduct, grievances, flexible working etc.
  • Managing high volume and complex ER cases from inception to completion giving guidance to the relevant stakeholders throughout
  • Conducting investigations and other meetings
  • Providing support at formal and informal meetings and hearings
  • Ensuring decisions are accurately captured, recorded and processed
  • Building stakeholder relationships throughout the process (senior management and HRBPs)
  • Escalating higher risk cases to employment lawyers and senior HR leadership team
  • Following internal processes, ACAS codes of practice and best practice approaches
  • Managing more complex ER projects such as redundancy, TUPE, changes to Terms and Conditions of Employment:
  • Developing and overseeing the project plan
  • Writing communications to stakeholders, affected colleagues
  • Managing collective and individual consultation processes, chairing meetings
  • Ensuring legal obligations are met in such processes
  • Providing an advisory service to HRBP's and the business on ER related matters
  • Working closely with other teams within HR (such as HR Operations, Payroll, HRBPs) to streamline processes, ensure consistency and maintain effective cross team communications
  • Supporting the Senior ER Manager with ER related projects and continuous improvement initiatives such as policy development and procedure updates, ER training for line managers
Skills and experienceWe are looking for:
  • CIPD level 5 minimum (or equivalent in experience) or working towards but with minimum level 3 achieved
  • Will have extensive experience in an ER case management role - 3 years (approx.)
  • Excellent UK employment law knowledge particularly unfair dismissal and discrimination
  • Ability to balance legal and commercial risk
  • Prioritisation skills - must be able to manage a heavy case load and prioritise well
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - must be able to articulate to (and influence) senior lawyers, managers and directors on legal and commercial risk, options and recommendations
  • Confident enough to challenge constructively, combined with a level of resilience
